# Target Farming for SSF Players in PoE2



**Problem:** SSF players currently have no reliable way to target specific items they need for their builds, leading to frustrating RNG walls that can halt progression for dozens of hours.

**Proposed Solutions:**

**1. Divination Card System Expansion**
- Add div cards for all unique items
- Make card drop locations predictable and farmable
- Allow cards to drop from specific boss types matching item themes

**2. Boss-Specific Loot Tables**
- Each major boss guarantees 1-2 items from their thematic loot pool
- Example: Geonor has higher chance to drop lycanthropy-themed uniques
- Increases with map mods/rarity

**3. Vendor Recipe Improvements**
- Bring back deterministic vendor recipes from PoE1
- Add new recipes for targeting specific base types
- "Trade 5 uniques of same type for random unique of that type"

**4. SSF-Only Crafting Currency**
- "Ancient Orb of Seeking" - rerolls unique into another unique of same slot
- Limited drops but guarantees eventual progression
- Untradeable even if character migrates

**5. Atlas Passive for SSF**
- "Focused Farming" nodes that increase specific item type drops
- Must commit to one item type per region
- Scales with map completion

**Why This Matters:**
- SSF is about self-sufficiency, not pure RNG torture
- Gives players agency while maintaining the challenge
- Respects player time investment
- Creates more engaging gameplay loops than pure slot machine

This wouldn't make SSF "easy mode" - just more respectful of player time and build diversity.

I'm wandering if target farming is on GGGs list since POE2 is using inspirations from Diablo 2. Or that it already exists and we haven't discovered it fully. There is supposed to be a considerable amount more of unique monsters in the works so that leads me to the hypothesis of target farming is/will be a feature.
SSF player here. I don't want SSF to play any differently from trade league. Maybe GGG can add some Disneyland custom league modifiers (at a point cost) for people who want this. SSF is fine.

you don't farm for gear you 'need' for your build, you build around what you found. this is by far the most fun thing abut this game mode

Exactly! That's the whole point of SSF... The challenge to play with only what you find yourself.
i agree on ssf being build arnound what you find, not what you want to be found.

Yet i also agree on more determenistic drops, as doing different thing and getting same random results is just stupid.

But i'll add here a 3rd thought about ssf/drops: nerf f***ing broken on rare uniques. Some uniques being build-mandatory is ok, but there is a problem of some uniques being OP in most of the builds. Like jewels with +3 gems, like -cd cloak (sanctuary one) is too good even on war, etc etc.
Nerf those down. And most reason for nerf them is ggg themselves - for example, they nerfed minions because they "were too strong" at 40 level, but they skipped the part of multi-mirror-level of gear to achieve that - and instead on nerfing those op uniques and extremely rare low-weight mods (amulet), they nerfed the base skill, nerfing most of below-average performing skills.
Trade causes more problems than it solves and has become a crutch for a bad loot system. Just get rid of trade and have the devs feel forced to tackle the issues of the game.
