Unable to connect to Stockholm gateway

When I try to log in with "Auto-select Gateway", it automatically selects Stockholm. However, when I click Log In, I get an error message saying "Unable to connect to login server".

Even If I choose Stockholm manually, I get the same error message.

I also can't connect and I can still see Moscow as an option and go into it. I live in Sweden...

I cannot connect to the Stockholm gateway in PoE 1 either -- but I can connect to it in PoE 2 -- and I get a marvelous 2 ms latency according to the in-game F1 graphs there. (The login menu gateway selection there shows about roughly 7 to 11 ms ping when refreshing it).

I would love to connect to it from PoE 1 as well, as there is no other gateway that has anywhere near this low of a latency. Is there a reason why it is possible to log on to it from PoE 2 but not from PoE 1 ? Will PoE 1 support be added eventually if there is an actual reason why it is not supported at the moment being?

EDIT: It seems I can connect to it if I enter sto.login.pathofexile.com:20482 in the gateway selection field though.
