Patch 0.3 for EU players starts on 2nd September
GGG decided to do a free to play weekend (29th August to 1st September) the same weekend they're releasing a patch on the already barely alive EU servers.
It doesn't need saying that the servers will be completely unplayable during this timeframe for EU players. Last bumped on Aug 23, 2025, 1:30:38 PM

Players aren't locked to servers.
I'm from UK and used 10 different servers when the mood strikes me to escape network instabilities (mainly London server is the biggest culprit though in network, it slows your FPS from overdemanding network tasks/shaders) and even if you pick a server near 100ms the gameplay works fine. GGG will create additional capacity for 2+ weeks of new patch I imagine so this post is just wild dooming. Last edited by TrunktenUK#3407 on Aug 23, 2025, 1:07:41 PM

" Evidence of literally every patch release ever suggests the servers will be overloaded. Experience knows that the EU servers are already barely functional. Common sense suggests that having the free weekend on the same weekend as the patch release is a bad idea. I don't know how to make this more digestible for you. Either way, I genuinely hope they reconsider, and postpone the f2p weekend. The outcome I see happening is that paying players will be frustrated to have servers clogged by f2pers, and f2pers will have a terrible first time experience and therefore a negative impression of the game as a whole. Launch I imagine was way more demanding than this.
Also Metal Gear Snake Eater is available on all major platforms from 28th. |

" ofc they won't. thats the entire point of it. give a free weekend for people who didn't pay for the early access yet, at the start of the new league. Nobody wants to join a game mid league. There is a lot of hype around the 0.3, people will want to play with friends, or just get hooked once they try it. |
