Pre-download on steam?

Hi,
Is there any way to pre-download poe2 on steam or do I have to download the game client? I have access to early access. Sorry for my English, but it's not my first language. Last bumped on Aug 26, 2025, 3:20:14 PM

The Steam update comes through a couple of hours before league release.

Yes the steam update will become available shortly before launch. Or at least 0.2 was available shortly before.
The stand alone client I think they have an update for the day before if you want to do it then. If you own the game on Steam and ever want to switch to stand alone... you just login on the POE2 website and click on your account (usually it's upper left corner showing you logged in as (accountname) you just click on your account name). Then on the right side of the screen in the list of options you'll see "manage account" and you click on that. This will bring up a list that will show Steam with a number in parentheses. Also on that page you will see a box that says "Primary Login" you just add an email in there and create a password. You can use those details to log into the stand alone client if you ever decide you want to go that way... |

" Thanks for the info. I figured it out a few days after the early access launch. I was wondering if there was an option to have the update on Steam at the same time as the client. I will probably use the game client on my second PC. |

Steam pre-load is usually few hours before launch.
But server queue starts until then. It usually takes 10 minutes for you to get in the server if you are at 15-20k que. If minmaxer to the core, highly suggest stand alone client of course. | |

The thing is,
Steam has its own verification check for new version of any game. ALL previous upgrades of poe2 were LAST on steam. Like last last. So dont expect to play with others.... ye, Im on Steam too. SSF player✔️
