Predownload poe2 for my friends on free weekend
So if there is no predownloads for free weekend, what i can do for my friends who want to try but it's too much for their internet?
For example: if i download game right now and then send them all files, can they on launch just click download on steam and verify files? Last bumped on Aug 26, 2025, 11:30:34 AM

Well even if you download a client for them now it's still going to have to patch... on the 29th which if their internet is that bad isn't going to be a great time.
They can create accounts on the POE2 website so that part is done. Then at some point on the 28th there will be an updated torrent file for the standalone PC Client. I guess you could grab that for them if you can see them that day to give it to them. |

At the moment the game size is 93 GB. It will take about a day to download, but it will be quite possible to download an update of 15-20 GB. I just know that people with bad internet download steam versions of games from torrent and speed up their downloads this way, but I don't know the process itself. And especially if these are my files, will they have problems? I'm afraid that there might be some kind of ban for this or something like that?

Anyone can download the game. You need an account with access to play, but they can download it just fine. Just hit the giant "Download Now!" button on the top right and follow the prompts. GGG should release a torrent for download sometime the day before so they can pre-download the patch files.
Long download times reminds me of a time when my internet was so terrible (and patchy) it took me 3 weeks to download World of Warcraft and it's two expansions back when Wrath of the Litch King was current. |

" Well, if your login credentials are saved and I have no idea where the game saves them, it is possible that if you just copy the installed game those are going to be included... Which is why it would be far simpler for you to download the stand alone client and then they can just install it. The option is to either do that now and they can sit through the update from 0.2 to 0.3 or to grab the torrent the day before and have them install that client which should be up to date. Even if they decide to buy the game on Steam later, they can still do that and simply link steam to the account they created for the free weekend. Just the same as you can buy on steam and then switch to the stand alone client if you choose to. The only advantage in my opinion to using steam is if you buy things in game and prefer to do it through the steam wallet... Last edited by Antarious#5648 on Aug 26, 2025, 11:34:24 AM
