Is teleporting to town my only option to heal when using CI?

I don't understand. How do I heal my character when using Chaos Innoculation? What am I missing.

With CI you depend entirely on Energy Shield to protect your life, so you "heal" through the normal mechanisms for regenerating Energy Shield.

In general you shouldn't need healing on es in the classic sense but if for some reason your build does want some buttons to press to heal in a pickle there are some options.
Vaal discipline can allow you to instantly get your es recovery which in a lot of cases will do the trick. If you still need some extra you can use a sorrow of the divine flask and a healing flask together. |

You can also leech energy shield.

What do you mean? Energy shield does by default regenerate very fast after a few seconds of not taking damage. But that was mostly the old way of doing things. These days, you can leech, start regeneration even if you take damage and inn some cases you can even use flaks.
If you ACTUALLY have to teleport back to town to recharge, it seems to me like you've taken some kind of notable, key stone or gear that limits your healing in some way, i.e. Ghost Dance. Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Aug 30, 2025, 1:26:39 PM

" Not necessarily, they could be talking about PoE1. CI has been around forever in the first game too, and there are plenty of ways to accidentally brick a build, no leech, Eternal Youth, Ghost Reaver with no leech source, certain map mods, etc. In those cases, the only real option to recharge ES ends up being a quick TP to town or hideout. With how little detail OP gave, it’s honestly hard to say whether they’re referring to PoE1 or PoE2, both have similar mechanics and the potential for these kinds of issues.
