New item Idea for keystones

We already have "Impossible Escape" that allows you to get passives around a keystone and "Forbidden Flamme/Flesh" that allows you to have a fifth point in your ascendancy, so why not have something that allows you to HAVE a keystone?


It would work the same way as the Forbidden gems and would require 2 of them for it to work, when you have the matching pair you will have the specified Keystone activated for you (limit to 1).

This would open SOOO many builds possibilities!

They have skin of the lords. I would assume the reason for not having it on an item like Impossible escape is it is too powerful. A lot of them are available at the cost of having a limiting unique on your build. They might be able to add something though. The ascendancy forbidden jewels are pretty powerful, maybe they can do something like that, where you need 2 jewel slots to get the keystone.

that's why I said it would require 2, only 1 would be way too strong.
Yeah, maybe they will. I've never really used skin of the lords. I think it is a cool item though, I just typically like having base defenses on my body armour. So what you are suggesting would provide opportunity to use the keystone without forcing the items. The only other thing I know similar to this is timeless jewel keystones. So maybe it can be done through those, like you have another jewel item, and it allows your timeless jewel keystone to switch with another regular keystone that doe not need to be connected. Something they could trial in leagues to see if it works.

Another thing I've seen suggest is possibly have access to the phrecia ascendancies through something like the forbidden gems. There was a lot of new build ideas in Phrecia, which made it very interesting. I'm with you on that, that your suggestion would make create a lot of possibilities for new builds. Likely would need some balance changes, but I would still be playing Phrecia if it was still running, just because of how much possible different build possibilities there where, even with the base game being almost the same.

The tota keystone tattoo did a great job and allowed more flexibility.

Yeah I didn't play Tota, sounds like a lot of people liked it though. Maybe those tatoo's will get another run at some point. Sounds Pretty OP, but good for options.

There was a thread of someone asking for Runebinder keystone to be available in the bottom half of the tree a while back. I think they mainly wanted it for levelling, and I think the tree should not provide every one with everything. Having something like this might mean they can get that at a cost later on, if they don't want their tree pathing forced in that direction. I think it is mainly a balance question, and making sure the tree still has some structure, while allowing for different build ideas to be possible if players want to make something different and can overcome the challenges.
