I don't see why it would be necessary, when the game runs perfectly on wine and proton.

Why would you want them to inflict that on you?
Have you seen the state of their Mac client? I mean - they left PoE 1 with the Delve map being a total black screen for all Mac users, regardless of client settings, for a year. Don't even get me started on the frequent client crash also plaguing the macOS client for the same period. The less your experience on Linux is directly down to GGG, the better your experience on Linux will be. GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.

Anyone got experience running PoE under wine with the standalone client?
Mine's stuck at "checking resources" after downloading everything just fine. Presently just using Explorer from within wine to launch it. Lutris won't work for me because I suffer from split accounts and my steam account is just bare bones, while the standalone client is where I bought all my MTX (probably $1800 worth) I've been away from PoE for a while now, and wanted to check out the latest league. Quoting Saltychipmunk:

" Why does Lutris not work? U can just install the standalone client through Lutris. Another alternative is Bottles, works fine aswell. "IIRC I had the same problem with Lutris. It was fixable by changing the Wine version. Most Wine versions I tried didnt work though, at least one did however so its running now. The one Im using which works is: wine-10.9-amd64-wow64 (I have AMD CPU which may matter for this.) And I most certainly would try to use Lutris (or whatever other wrapper) and not directly just Wine, similar as previous poster suggests. No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
