Waystone drop rate is borked

Aren't all map bosses supposed to drop a waystone?

Every 1 out of probably 3 bosses I fight doesn't drop one. They also don't really seem to drop from rares, I probably get a rare to drop one every 5 maps or so.

Overall I'm just not getting enough waystones to keep running maps.

I'm running T15's, not all the way juiced, but enough that I can use 2 tablets and have 2 revives or so. I have 120% magic find. I've spec'd my passives into getting more waystones at every chance I got.

Did they just completely ruin all the changes they made in 0.3 in 0.31? Or am I doing something wrong?

No, waystone drops are screwed up. It hasn't been confirmed or anything, but there are multiple posts about this issue.

Its reeeeeaaaalllly obvious when you play the game. Exactly like you said, all points in waystones, maps with a lot of +% waystone... no waystones no matter what.

Same experience, bosses sometimes don't drop them, sometimes two, nearly always the same level, rares never drop them. Everyone once a blue moon a random one will pop up.

One thing to test, I haven't tried this- but I killed a boss the other night and then immediately got two waystones within about 100 mobs. It stood out enough that I put it in another post.

Might be something to do with bosses. I think at one point, maybe still, bosses were guaranteed to drop waystones- perhaps there is some sort of code stopping waystones from dropping while the boss is alive. Once dead you start to get the actual rate.

I need to remember to try it.

I have problem with tablet drops in SSF mode, I am running out the ritual tablet and there isnt a single drop of ritual tablet in a random ritual run. Now i cannot play with the ritual and cannot get the most important omens for my gear upgrade.

I tried maps with high amount drop and high rairity found and still cannot find a ritual tablet.

What is wrong with this game. Why they dont test the SSF mode for the path update.I am maping the breach tablet which gives nothing. SO SAD!!!!

How many mods are you running on your waystones? Even if I run 4 mods with average 65% waystone drop chance, bosses always give 1 or 2 waystones.

I run at least 4 more - like I said enough for 2 ish revives and 2 tablets.

I think I’ve only ever seen a boss drop two way stones twice. EVER.

I feel like a decent portion of the time the boss doesn’t even drop one way stone.

I’m down to 4 T15 way stones. Once those are gone I probably just won’t play anymore. At least until they fix this.
For anyone else struggling, I did a few things:

1) Leveled up my build to the point where I could run fully 100% juiced T15's with 0 revives.

2) switched out the tablets I was using to 3x with exclusively + waystone drop chance

This did help a lot.

I still think the balancing on waystone drop rate is messed up - so you can currently only sustain maps if you're able to run fully juiced T15? What the everloving fruckidy-flip are people supposed to do that are working their way through endgame? Or running off-meta builds?

Once again the game feels balanced to like the 3 "chosen" builds that can just jump straight to T15 post campaign, if you're not running one of those, best of luck.

The last bit is just grass is greener talk.
Improving (or gearing) your build also improves the pool of mods you can run, consequently decreasing resource consumption on rerolls, such as buying maps from Doryani when you can't sustain. Doryani _is_ the safety mechanism, providing slightly lower level maps in case you've gone ahead a bit too fast. You can also buy 3 14s and reforge them.

If you're running an off-meta build and haven't fleshed out all the pieces yet, surely you wouldn't have the expectation that you can just throw yourself into a juiced endgame? You'd run what your build can handle, add shrines to your atlas, maybe not +4 bosses outta the gate. If you can't run juiced 15s to sustain them, run 6mod 14s, whatever your build can take; there's some T7 strat making the rounds. 6mod isn't even that juiced imo, since you can get 8mod from vaaling; abyss can add union of souls; and I've gotten a couple 125% delirium maps.

It's not that "jumping" to 15s will solve the sustain as you've experienced, it's that meta builds are meta as they have more readily available answers to all the checkboxes - they're solved problems.

If you want more sustain, crank the juice, and if that means you've got to lower the tier so you don't die, so be it? It's the whole incremental upgrade thing. Like you find the limit and walk it back a bit until it's comfy.

That said, I would like to see 15s be reforgeable (into 15s) in the same way that you can 3:1 tablets to reroll them. 3 corrupted -> 1 corrupted too (even if it's stuck unid as a cost, lol).
I do T15 and like 90% of the time, I'm only getting 1 waystone from the map boss. I think I haven't seen any waystone dropped from rare or regular mobs for more than a week.
