File size is getting too large
|
Over the years POE has grown from 10 gigs, to 20, to 30, to 40, to 50. I don't use most of your MTX, and honestly having to keep downloading assets I don't use is a turn off.
Like honestly trim this stuff down and run it through more compression. It isn't hard. Last bumped on Nov 1, 2025, 1:32:08 AM

50gb is a lot? lol? We're no longer in 2012
Looking at other games with 150+ gb and a friction of the content it's actually well downsized lol Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Without meaning to offend anyone present, but what kinda hardware do you run where 50GB filesize is "too much" for your system to handle, and why should GGG take away from people with proper PCs for your sake?
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

No offense taken. It isn't that my computer can't run it, but for what POE is, the file size seems too large. This game doesn't have a lot of prerendered video or voice lines that can't really be compressed. It just feels like GGG is dumping a lot of crap I don't care about. I don't care about supporter pack skins or 12 different skill effects for skills I have no interest in.
In addition in should be obvious that modern games do not need to be bloated to the extent they are. Devs are ignoring disk optimization and it hurts at the end of the day. Like poe isn't as bad as cod, seige, or bf6 that add like 20 gigs when they put in a new gun or character. It is something easily fixable, like a damage log, that GGG refuses to do. |

50 is the torrent update route.
9.2 is the client update route. Not that big either way. Mash the clean Last edited by Mashgesture#2912 on Oct 31, 2025, 2:26:34 PM

I'm pretty sure poe file is shortened tremendously compared to what it would be if all information was on the client instead of keeping a lot of stuff on the server.
At least this is how I understand they hide all the calculations and drop rates by never releasing those files to the client. |

" Yes. But either way, you end up with a new content-file with 58.6 GB size. I think he has a point there. relax - it's just ones and zeros!

Some of us only have 500gb SSDs, and 50gb is 10% of the drive.
Yes, that's a lot. If you want to buy each of us a 2TB drive to go along with that, then great, otherwise sit down. You don't know what you're talking about. |

I have 1TB SSD for games only because i knew what size new games have.
