Very Very strong NO on this. There are even Breach tree passives which are free to respec that have currency dropping as gold instead. Play the game a bit.
the thing you need to understand about gold is, GGG never wanted gold to be in the game because when they played d2 they realized at a point gold became pointless. you can have "infinite" gold and no one wants to sell anything for gold as they too have "infinite" gold. players ended up trading stone of jordans or zod runes as their main currency.

hence how we have chaos, exalt divines in poe.

it doesnt stop there. when ggg reintroduced gold, they wanted to make sure that players VALUED gold. in settlers league there was TONS of gold sinks. for most of the playerbase they were always out of gold. but for those who could handle juiced/t17s they had over abundance. but that is where GGG felt comfortable with gold acquisition.

players could not "cheat the system" and get gold without playing the game. this also hampered bots a little bit.

i dont know why but in poe2, ggg seemingly forgot about how they implemented gold in settlers. you can easily get gold by vendoring gear. you could also do this to mule characters by passing them gear to vendor.

in a way gold helps keep a-sync trade in check, discouraging bots. but also giving players an incentive to use normal trade (doesnt use gold)

Yes/no... It only works if they make a way to pm people with items up for gold as well. 85% of items are up for instant and not in person..
There are people crying about "bots and sniping apps" for async trade, making items tradable or vendorable for gold will never happen.
