Defense in POE1 is obnoxious

There are so many annoying elements of POE1, they are not fun to engage with and genuinely make the experience worse

- Maps mods with no counter play
- Rare mods with no counter play
- DoT's that cannot be mitigated

Oh you rolled - Cannot leech - as a slayer? Rip

Oh you rolled - Reduced block chance - as a gladiator? Rip no more spell block ecks dee

Oh you have immunity to bleed AND corrupting blood AND poison? Here's a giant AOE blue dot aura you will frequently encounter on rare mobs that insta drains your mana and does immense damage

Its so annoying to play this game now...

You have to look at so many different things for defense and in the end, the only builds that can truly be tanky are just a handful of builds... which almost primarily all stack a ton of ES

I'm genuinely tired of having to go through a giant check list of defenses just to get rekt by some inconspicuous map mod or rare mod

The game needs a huge re-vamp
You guys need to seriously review stupid map mods that have no counter play, rare mobs that seem to penetrate all defensive layers..... and all this extremely unfun defensive checklist stacking

We need a huge streamlining for defenses... we are sick of tired of boiling ground, pissing ground, festering ground, and all these random b.s. mods

It's like somewhere down the line years ago, instead of trying to make a fun ARPG the GGG team decided their main goal would be to find ways to kill players and constantly remove any powerful defensive builds that were non-es

GGG nerfed for example the CWS life marauder build with recoup and defiance of destiny...but left ES untouched forever

The way the game has progressed into this endless swamp of modifiers players have to deal with is insane...

that's why you can sell maps for others to buy. what you can't play someone else might.

There is bound to be some mods you simply can't run. I don't necessarily think that is a bad idea and that you should always be able to run any type of mod for any type of build.. in the end.. that isn't POE1.


But I personally hate the T17 mods that they introduced. Alot of those are just made to be as annoying as possible. Like for example that statue that turns you into stone. And there are many such examples in the T17 mod pool.

Every defensive layer introduced as being "optional" soon enough gets promoted to "mandatory" because of progressive stealth buffs to monsters.

And here the community thinks that only the players get "power creep".

I think this is more of a player issue not a game issue.

so roll over/trade the maps you can't do, there's an answer for every defensive need in the game. pantheons help too, regen,recovery are big. the problem really is user error

Outside of t17s, while this may be annoying isnt really that debilitating. Its a currency sink to have those mods. There is also risk/reward with them. I do think reflect should be removed from the game though.

Heh, yeah and I'm doing just fine. I'm sorry is there a competition I'm unaware of? Last time I checked I have about 3-4 months to get 40 challenge and if you look at my profile you'll see how many 40/40 leagues I've done. Also, you don't know if I run solo or have a persona aurabot, you don't know anything about my setup outside of my profile. Do not assume anything because it makes you look stupid.

Again, player issue, and there's no need to project because you're angry about defenses.
