Earthshatter and impale is so complicated.

Can anyone help me?

if i have 100% chance to impale enemy on hit

i understand that initial impact can definitely impale.
Would like to ask if earthshatter spike can proc impale damage?


if i have the node that have 20% chance on hit to remove all impale from enemy. Can i use it as a proc?

I'm pretty sure that it works, yeah. All instances of damage from earthshatter should be able to apply impale.

I was using Impale on my Earthshatter Berserker back in Settlers and with the right amount of investment my impales ended up being roughly a 50% damage bonus.

The spikes are individual hits and can each proc on hit mechanics separately don't they Sadaukar?

As far as I understand it, yes. It's been a while since I played that character, but I'm pretty sure a single earthshatter + explosion lead to a fully impaled enemy. So the 20% chance would also be able to proc on any spike explosion.

The effectiveness of that mastery is controversial however. I've used it for a while but ultimately specced out of it. It seems to be good for burst damage, but for sustained single target it might be a little worse or just the same, but with the investment of a skill point.

Yeah I think it is mainly just bringing the impale damage forward, and doesn't add to the overall dps unless there is a way of reapplying the impales without building them up again from sustained attacks. Like if multiple skill are being used and can reapply them quickly somehow.

That is my understanding too that the earthshatter can add multiple impales on the one attack if it hits multiple times, but I haven't used it much.
