So GGG, why are you on Twitter?

I'm not gonna lie, it's kinda wild seeing you still active on this site.

Every single time it's in the news it's a wild news story that seems to show how hostile it is for users.

I'm not asking you to switch to other sites, just to think about dropping one.

And what would not posting on Twitter change for GGG? Besides the performative nature of such a move they'd just reach less people, which is bad for marketing because people are talking about PoE anyway on Twitter. It simply makes no sense for them not to be on Twitter

Which is why they're posting on every other social media, right?

But even "it's not against the rules to doxx users on Twitter" is prob a good reason to have your employees post there.

I go to twitter normally on league launch day only, but tons of people use it all the time, it makes total sense for them to reach as many as possible.

Twitter is where the users are at, and it's also a great platform to instantly receive important news on launch day which is when they're the most active there. This website becomes unavailable as they are restarting the services and patching and people will be there already anyway.

Frankly, I don't understand what has you upset about them using it given all the advantages. If you personally choose not to use Twitter? Understandable. Them as a company? They'd be stupid

Probably for much the same reason they're on Reddit.

Speaking as someone who has worked on exactly this kind of thing in the games industry, as a company you are essentially a slave to the users WRT platforms. Speaking as an individual - Bluesky's more my jam, and that's where I spend most of my social media time these days.

But posts on Bluesky just aren't going to meet with the engagement of those on ExTwitter, and it's a rare company that willfully chooses to just have less reach - which can directly translate into deciding to just have fewer recurring customers. It's not in their interests.

It can be... awkward when trying to rely on third-party software designed to act as a go-between where you write one post one time, and the third-party web app sends it out to all the various social media options (e.g. ExTwitter; Facebook; Bluesky). Despite it being their 'only job', they always miss various features exclusive to a single site, and sometimes the formatting is 'off' - overall, they invariably come across as being amateur hour and aren't worth the hassle (or the price!).

When companies such as Apple are still routinely active on ExTwitter despite being famous for the "stickyness" of their userbase, you can hardly be all that surprised by a company like Grinding Gear Games hanging around. Especially in context of the seasonal nature of their 1.5 games - they expect to lose their players multiple times per year, and it is of vital importance they're able to get the message out that "at the end of this week it's time to come back!"

Ultimately, this one line kind of betrays the entire issue;

It's not about whether one person among hundreds has a touch more work to do occasionally. It's about how effectively they can communicate upcoming content releases. I genuinely think they'd sooner adopt more platforms than drop one of their current ones - and if they were going to stop posting somewhere, I imagine Facebook is the most likely candidate.

Facebook - 107 shares where many people no longer look at 'the feed'

ExTwitter - 337 retweets where 'the feed' is essentially the entire site
