Homogenization Omen gone?

Q&A Jonathan stated they omen of Homogenization is going away. That's crazy, can't they just rework some of the tags if they want to prevent +3 melee amulets being too easy to craft?
I quite literally crafted and sold hundreds of mirror tier items this season, and I can say that omen helped mid lvl / entry level crafters far more then pinnacle crafters like me.
Taking it away just removes a lot of the fun of crafting and forces back the old gambling method to making good items.

I don't see its removal on the patch notes, however Q&A made it pretty clear so I am just confused.

The problem seems less the omen, and some of the ez clap +skill lvl formulas. I would rather see the mods go away than the omen. The omen creates a cool mini game of tracking mod tags. The +skill lvs mod is annoying in the same way anything is when it feels mandatory.
Would be disappointed to see it removed. I learned a lot about mods, weights, tags, and more due that item being added.

Is the problem really the omen? And not some of more pure deterministic formulas that people discovered? Surely it would be better to break some of the crazier formulas by moving/adding mods or tags, rather than scrap the omen entirely.

Removing it seems a little reactionary. I hope they take another look and determine if the problem is the omen itself, or overlooked 100% deterministic formulas.
Seems dumb to remove something that a large portion of the playerbase used to craft their own moderately decent stuff instead of just buying it on the market. Plus, as Firetoad mentioned, crafting your own items has taught a lot of folks information about the game that gets them more invested in it.

Crafting is what everyone liked about 0.3. This 0.4 removes that, doesn't replace endgame as promised, and delivers a very slow looking combo-heavy Druid class. What is the point of playing this league? The "story" and temple that is a combination of some of the worst PoE1 had to offer?
Hey everyone! I'm a newbie who started with League 0.3.0, and it was an incredible experience! I especially enjoyed crafting; I've spent over 400 hours creating and selling (or giving away) items! I really enjoyed crafting because you can control it. BUT, in the Q&A section, they said they were removing one of the main Omens—Omen of Homogeneous Exaltation. I understand it's overpowered, but that's no reason to remove it. You can simply edit it or remove the tags and keep it. Please report this issue and let the developers know that this Omen is necessary, especially for new players!

Agreed! Whole we are on it, we should eliminate movement speed and resistances as well, because they are all mandatory.
I was a hideout warrior for the entire 0.3 patch. I made hundreds of Divines. I was able to craft my own BiS gear, which also easily cost around 2000 divs. Patch 0.3 keeps me playing even today precisely because of the crafting system.

Jonathan clearly doesn’t understand how expensive homogenizing crafting could be. He never showed how he plays the game he created.

The Homogenizing Omen wasn’t OP. It was fine. It gave you a chance at a specific modifier by matching tags, but it still wasn’t a guaranteed craft. On a rare base with one mod, you had a certain chance (like 25%) to hit that T1 modifier you wanted. Didn’t hit it? You’re down 2 div plus an annul. Annul didn’t work? Well, too bad, time for chaos slam spam, another 5 div in chaos orbs gone, and repeat.

It was a form of deterministic crafting, but it couldn’t do everything. For example, you couldn’t force Spirit on an amulet - because there were no tags. Or rarity on a ring. RNG stepped in there. And that’s fine.

Without Homogenizing Omens, my hype for the next league dropped by 100%. I don’t feel like playing.

Because what other crafting options do we even have next season? Omen of Whittling, where a single click costs 10 div? And that’s actually a more OP form of crafting than homogenizing if you have enough currency. Ladder tech isn’t accessible to anyone except crafting cartels who group up to farm enough omens early in the league to make mirror-tier gear.

Homogenizing crafting is a great divine sink and an option for the average player to make enough currency for good gear - or to craft it themselves.

I played a Titan Warrior armor stacking. My problem was that the market didn’t have the items I needed. So what? No problem. I started planning a craft using the available options, which was fun on its own. Add an omen here, an essence there, and we roughly get what we want. But still we were poorer by 50div easily.

Next league I won’t have that. The best I can do is maybe deterministically make four mods with a mediocre essence-which is getting nerfed. The next two mods will be random exalt slams. Why not increase the chance of hitting something good by keeping the Homogenizing Omen in the game? I don’t understand it.

GGG could just nerf it to hit max T2 or something. It will be still fine in my honest opinion. Or limit usage of it, for instance one per item.

You can’t give us something that strong and then just completely take it away. They should have toned it down instead.

I agree, it’s very annoying to receive a good thing and then lose it...
Well I guess you can blame all the streamers that thought it should be nerfed/removed. Although they did all say some other mechanic should replace it so maybe only 50% blame them.

In reality you have 3-5 super deterministic crafts. Gloves and amulets. Thats it. The rest is more difficult. For example show me video that presents how to do shield for warrior or amulet for stat stacker. You will not find it. Because its still hard and you can spend hundreds of divs in currency to make one and even with homo omen it was RNG enough to be div sink

If your build is slightly off the meta in 0.3 you need to craft on your own which omen helps.
