Least rewarding mechanic in POE history - It's not even close
|
Vaal temple is by the least rewarding mechanic ever across poe 1 and poe 2.
I am sure we have all had the same experience early game: You run your first temple, you get 2-4 exalt workbenches, cool. These are very useful in the early game. No other loot drops as there are only 40 enemies in the entire temple. You run the second temple, you get 1 or 2 exalt benches and nothing else. Then you run temples 3-8 (now 3 times bigger and with level 2 and 3 rooms) and you get literally zero rewards beside 2 regal benches (utterly worthless) and 4 Articifer orb benches (utterly, utterly worthless) and no loot in your inventory. Your reward for running 8 temples (interacting with 48 circles and spending a couple hours minimum) is a hand full exalts, regals and aticifers orbs EXCEPT significantly worse than that because they also have to be used immediately on the spot with things already in your inventory! So realistically the rewards for running temples are absolutely nothing, you get nothing at all for running temples. Make it make sense. Last bumped on Dec 14, 2025, 10:38:00 AM

" Ya...fought the architect last night and he dropped dookie and I guess it wasn't a level 75 map (73) so I don't really get to progress the mechanic any further either. I'm sure I will do them til I fight Atziri and try all the rooms but after that I'm probably ignoring them entirely. Takes entirely too long and anything I've gotten out of it isn't at any better or a rate then what I could get on the surface. Also I hate those little spider bombs that come out of the floor. It really sucks to walk into a room, have the fog wall.lock you in, get body locked by a dozen enemies and have those little things blow up under you when you didn't see them because the enemies were in a horde on top of them. Sucks because I really was excited to play with this mechanic more. I'm already bored with seeing it. |

That's my experience so far...it's basically a place where you do things orbs already do, except that it's way too much too quickly...all my gems have 3 sockets before I even saw an Artificer orb dropping and getting 20% quality this early is a joke and having all rares equipped with 6 mods is a joke too...did they do that because people complain there's no loot? I already see myself skipping most bench for being TOO available.
Temple are overkill in term of loot...definitely didn't need that, it's cool for newcomers I guess but for experienced players this make gearing a total joke. Tech guy Last edited by Warrax#2850 on Dec 14, 2025, 9:07:28 AM

As an SSF player i appreciate extra exalts, jewellers, regals, alchs etc. However i don't understand why not just drop exalts and all that. The workbenches look similar to workbenches in Betrayal, but they're just... one orb. I guess having workbenches instead of just dropping exalts seems more exciting.

Honestly, after the horrible 3.27. I really expected GGG to actually deliver something great for 0.4.
I hoped that the loot would be good, the end game would be great. We have a very dull and not rewarding league mechanic. It's just pure pain to play that. I really think it's time for GGG to get an wake up call. Recently things are not going in the right direction, the quality of patches is getting from great to actually just bad. And i think they are trying to just artificially increase the play time, but people aren't dumb, we see that because you have to maintain 2 games. it's just impossible to deliver something good. |

" Why can we take vaal orbs and artificer orbs with us if we don't want to use the benches but not exalts, alchemy and regals? Last edited by MeanBob_Games#6853 on Dec 14, 2025, 9:57:21 AM

Cherry on top: NOTHING IS GUARANTEE!!!
It so cool to clear empty rooms (just like fkn endgame maps) Dont want to say it but we are in 0.2 territory again. 4 months of anticipation to get almost nothing at the end. Last edited by default_mp3#9394 on Dec 14, 2025, 10:48:27 AM
