Lightning Warp + Ball Lightning not working smoothly in 0.4.0
|
My favorite build is Stormweaver Sorcerous, and I am attempting to run something this season similar to what I ran last season. It relies on Warp as a main offensive ability which makes me rich in infusions $$$
However, this change may have made the build unusable: " Especially with big mobs/bosses, it is nearly impossible to target the ball lightning instead of the boss. So I fire a bunch of ball lightnings at a boss, spam Warp, but the boss hits me in the face because my warps aren't connecting. My guess is they are targeting the boss instead of the balls. Please fix :( this used to be incredibly smooth and satisfying gameplay, now I might give up and reroll. I don't want this new behavior at all, sure it's cute, but it's really not that useful. Please, at least give ball lightning preference to enemies outside of cull range. Last edited by muzare#2539 on Dec 14, 2025, 8:31:21 AM Last bumped on Dec 14, 2025, 6:00:42 PM

Sighs. It stinks against small mobs/mob packs, too. What a bummer.
If you want my opinion, the new behavior is simply not good. It's annoying and jarring to suddenly warp to a target that is in cull range, especially since there's no indicator that an enemy has been cast on. Often it happens like this: * I try BL+LW, maybe connect a couple, wind up incidentally casting LW on healthy mobs * I give up trying to use BL+LW and spam spark/arc * Suddenly I'm warping around as spark takes the enemies lower, often to my positioning surprise, causing me to take hits I didn't anticipate Plus... by the time spark/arc is getting enemies into culling range, I don't need to warp! They're on their way out! Last edited by muzare#2539 on Dec 14, 2025, 8:26:19 AM

If it makes you feel better almost nothing is working or feels good this patch. I have no idea how they feel like this is good content to be putting out.
Whatever profit motive is driving the ship is literally choking this games ability to succeed and they won't even give it proper development time to fix the myriad of issues that will 100% still be here for launch. It's cool though they have to work on those 180$ worth of packs each 2 months. For a game that functions like a game jam submission done in 3 hours. |

" Alas, I don't share your cynicism! I have a lot of respect for the dev team and the game is stellar. I'm optimistic GGG will fix this and hopefully soon, but there's definitely a chance I'll wind up jaded by the experience. I do wish that the supporter packs/mtx were more affordable, though. If only we could earn a small amount of MTX currency per league, somewhere between 300-600 in value... |

This is 0.2 all over again, expect silence for a week or so before the player numbers drop and they knee jerk buff/fix things until player count stabilises.

Yeah - I can totally see that happening -_-
I'm trying to work around it with Projectile Deceleration and having some limited luck. Generally I have to lean on Arc/Spark a lot more than I typically would. |

Please GGG, it wasnt even that broken, and interaction was fun as hell, please revert it

" I was optimistic too at the start of the year when they promised rapid development and we are still dealing with day 1 issues and they game is becoming entirely unplayable for those not interested in playing path of excel spread sheet. That optimism has dissipated as each update is a lazy shovel ware slop reboot of poe 1 content riddled with issues that gets a handful of hotfixes and maybe a later "update" with some poe 1 content they happened to have ready and can share assets with. Which would be ok to a degree if it then got the rapid balancing and updating that the kind of early access that was trumped up in Jan that we would be experiencing. But we don't, we get 4 months of radio silence and the cycle repeats. And everyone claps. |

" D4 boomer. 0.4 is way smoother than 0.3 new league mechanic makes campaign way smoother and easier. lot of uniques are now playable after the buff patch. 0.1 = good 0.2 = meh 0.3 = insane 0.4 = by far the best (currently). |

Ah, I didn't play PoE1, so I didn't have a ton of expectations. That's probably why I can't relate to some of these concerns re: the design of the game. I can understand, though.
-- Deceleration doesn't help, but Acceleration kinda works. I have to adjust my approach a bit: BL+LW are no longer my main offensive capabilities, rather, I use the combo to reposition and occasionally get lucky with a BL that is between mobs so I can hit t hem. I'm also boosting the AoE on it (esp. since that got nerfed IIRC) with the hopes that enemies are close enough to still get hit. A lot of time it's just giving me movement+infusions. I still get gibbed in tight spots where I wouldn't before, and I can't imagine it scaling to Simulacrum or anything. For now I'm still playing, though...
