You should've just deleted Rarity in 0.4, you don't need another mod.

Needing another mod to switch Rarity is lame excuse. You don't even need it. Without Rarity the game would be much better and items would be better as well.

I am not getting a single piece of rarity on my gear on principle. I would rather stop playing.
You could say - just play without rarity, you still get drops.
I do play like that, but my 1 div drop in 5-10 maps worth nothing when the market has million times of what i have.
You could say - just play SSF.
Well, how many times do i have to hinder myself when devs can correct this issue?

No wonder people RMT for currency. Do not support it in any way but holy hell GGG makes people's time miserable so much i can understrand what those people feel.

You don't need to run a ton of rarity. Most people put the sweet spot for IIR in the 80-120 range. Anyone can fit 80 in on an end game build. Going from 0 to 100 is a lot more impactful than going from 100 to 300. I suspect there's a soft cap on it, something more than just diminishing returns.

Also the rarity from gear appears like it's a separate rarity multiplier from what's applied to maps, which would make it multiplicative with whatever you get from map mods.

I have 0 rarity on my gear, crushing basically all content and my gear at this point is pushing at least 100 div.

Wrong
keep rarity, remove it for party bonus
and remove the "count as killed by you" rarity bot thing

problem solved

/edit for clarity
- the issue is not rarity. its the disparity between party play buff with rarity bot and your average player that's mapping solo. the party play groups are what's creating the high inflation in the game as they have much more currency than those playing solo or just with a friend.
- nerfing the upper limit here is the correct move as it will keep the market more stable over a longer period of time.
- what we DON'T want is for rarity to be removed because this will impact all classes/ascendancies that have slower combo-based play styles (i.e. everything except bow builds). this means there's no practical "solution" to increasing drops as you build out your character. you can only kill as fast as your combo allows. this means rarity is required at a certain point to increase the number of drops you get because you can't increase your kill speed.

- all this to say:
1. bow players are too fast AND do too much damage (movement needs another nerf here as they are still 3-4x faster than all other classes/ascendancies in the game) - damage is whatever i guess.
2. rarity bot groups need a nerf

every player that isn't in the two categories above are at a severe disadvantage the entire league from a currency/progression perspective.

It makes no sense what they did with rarity. They just lowered the modifier values on rare items. This just made it even harder on builds, but it's still wanted by basically everyone, which is the complete opposite of what people actually wanted. It blows my mind that they would do that after a year of people complaining. How do they misunderstand the problem so badly?

I agree party play with rarity bots is a huge problem that should have been fixed a long time ago. HOWEVER, rarity is still a problem even if party play didn't exist, because it makes Ritualist have a massive advantage over every ascendancy due to the 3rd ring and jewelry bonus.

Rarity affecting currency just makes it another form of resistance. It's resistance to being poor. Resistance to getting shitty drops. It's not a fun stat at all. It hurts so many builds. So many builds just can't afford to have rarity on their gear because they need the affixes to fix resistances, offense, and defense.

Rarity just should not affect currency. It should have been changed a long, long time ago, because the problems with the current design are extremely obvious and have been repeated ad nauseum, but here we are... a year later... and it's as big of a problem as ever.

The problem with rarity on items is that for some builds it's rather easy to get that modifier because they don't need all slots on their items anyway but for others (and usually for those that are already harder to get functional) it's much harder because they need every or almost every slot for build related modifiers.

It should be removed to level the playing field a bit more because at the end of the day it's mainly helping the already rich players with the easy builds...
