PoE2 - Why I would love the game but hate it
|
Hey together,
been playing poe1 since eons now from my perspective and i tried po2 at EA launch. Liked the campaign but realized endgame is missing, so gave it some time. That said I came to test POE2 now with 0.4 and I would like to share some feedback on gameplay design decisions that just absolutely M U R D E R the fun out of the game for me. 1) Risk vs Rewards penalty aka "you die its gone" What actually pisses me off the most, how the game wants to force you down a certain path. If i wanna 6 mod corrupt a mod and die 6 times with killing 3 mobs in it and wasting tablets on it, why cant I? What makes even less sense, is the double punishment. If you lose the map, you lose everything in it AND have to maybe play it again with NOTHING in it, even just t1 map boss rush is fine. I have absolutely no idea who thought that that would be a great idea. 2) Obviously Console optimized map layouts I came to realize that like 95% of all maps are funnel narrow corridor maps that span huge distances so you have to fight 3 mobs at a time repeatedly. Why the hate on open maps? 3) The "you shall not pass"-fetish So i played a "ranger", which 105% of the time it existed was rushed down, blocked, surrounded. 4) BOSSSSSSSES obsession and one shots I mean i get it, POE2 is supposed to have nice bosses. They are fun the first time around but become a huge pain in the A quickly due to everything always oneshotting you, UNLESS 5) ES or bust It seems to me that almost all defences besides ES are missing from POE2. Cant take life on tree, life rolls on items are ok but not great. Eva seems meh, Armour seems to be the same. Unless you have couple K es are just paper due to points above 6) Performance and bugs last but not least. the amount of performance issues, bugs etc is STAGGERING. I mean yeah, its still in EA but the amount of tech issues persisting here is CRAZY. I seem to remeber they said in the beginning they are doing these things to be different from poe1 and for it to feel more real. All it really does for me gameplay experience wise is being a worse POE1 version that has great potential but decides to be different for the sake of it. What POE2 ought to be doing is expanding on the existings POE1 system and making them better with better QOL, gameplayXP and probably tech. Like fate of the vaal, i like the new temple idea and the diversity it can bring, rewards being sheit or not. My suggestion here is simple: Slow down the release cycle and focus on MEANINGFUL improvements to the "future of ARPG" because right now its going into the direction of "the past of how GGG tried to reinvent POE1 and didnt" Last edited by gameofthrowes#5542 on Dec 20, 2025, 5:44:59 PM Last bumped on Dec 20, 2025, 5:51:25 PM

" +1, the second the released abyss's in season 3 it really confused me... I'm like why add new content BEFORE FIXING THE UNDERLYING ISSUES? and before the core game is actually all there???? |
