Let me use tablets on a map I failed

Not being able to use tablets on a previously failed map is terrible gameplay. We removed towers because it felt like the nodes inbetween tower boosted nodes were by default less rewarding and therefore less fun. I don't care if I lose the modifiers already on a map node by failing the map, just let me continue to use my tablets on previously attempted maps. It's even worse when all you're trying to do is path to a corruption nexus, citadel, or the next cleansed node that has increased rarity on it. Failed a map for any reason? Great now you get to enjoy non boosted tower gameplay again.

The amount of times I've simply just ran another node somewhere completely random that I haven't failed when I fail a node leading to a corruption nexus just to be able to use my tablets and not feel like I'm wasting my time keeps getting larger because of this issue.

Obviously they'd need to do this in a way that prevents abuse for loot + XP, but the "walk of shame" after losing a map is genuinely so painful, and sometimes it's necessary to progress in a certain direction on your atlas.

When I fail a map and I have to do it because it's the only route to something I put there, I white random map and I rush straight to the boss. And I think 99% of players do the same. What's the reason to have it then? Who will put a juiced T15 in a failed map? It doesn't make sense. XP loss is enough penalty.

In terms of loot/XP abusing, yeah, it will be a thing. Why can't I run the map layout that I like the most? If I like Assembly, I should have an option to run it 24/7.

I guess I could see a world where people would try to just keep running the same map, clear it all except for the boss and intentionally try to "fail" the map so they can just run whatever map they want all day. I'm probably misunderstanding the loot + xp exploitation method/possibility here, but I don't see how the loot could be abused, unless you get into really technical terms map wise, where some maps have better map layouts for abyss/breach. In that case, I could see how you could influence more drops that way. If the concern is being able to "keep" a favored map, they could just randomize the failed node to another map within that biome to prevent that.

Let's say that GGG actually wants to give some of the map agency to the players but not entirely, it's a little off topic but I agree it is connected to the overall issue. GGG could add a tablet similar to the grand project that lets you "terraform" your atlas to have all nodes within tower vision become whatever map you want (excluding deadly map boss maps of course). This already somewhat exists naturally within the game with citadels, where a lot of the maps surrounding a citadel will be a lot of one or two different map layouts.
