Kaom's Test of Mettle - Are dps checks part of the vision?

I am doing a second play through this league, mostly ssf experimenting with builds when I finally encountered a rare during the Kaom's Test of Mettle quest in the eye of hinekora which I can't kill.

The rare does a warcry periodically that heals himself and out regens my ignite dot damage. I have killed all the bosses on this same build up to now but this rare just said nope.

Out of my many play throughs this is my first time encountering this issue due to playing a build that has poor dps.

This seems to contradict the "vision" of methodical game play because this rare is clearing saying to me that I need to one or two shot him to progress.

Wild, I didn't realize that. Good catch. Personally, I would just run through the campaign with a well established campaign-friendly build, and then respec into the build you actually want to play after you reach maps.

Yea usually i do that but I this is one of those experimental runs to see how different skills feel while leveling.

I was using frenzy empowered explosive spears to ignite and I am aware that using ele weakness and frost bomb would probably help me kill that rare easily but I am limited by int attribute atm.

The funny part is that I have killed 80% of the act 4 bosses with the current setup but cant kill that rare...which is rather perplexing.

Also just hoping the feedback will lead to more diversity in leveling builds because playing the same "meta" act builds can get pretty old...XD

Ah, good luck! I hope you find a solution. :)

I dunno if you're high enough level yet, but I always found Spearfield + Rage gem quite useful. Also, Spearfield is always proc'ing the Retreat gem, if you can use that.

I just fought him yesterday and overcame his regen with acrimony. I always use that support on some secondary skill as backup plan.

Kind of is yes, although not so much a dps check as it is "Ok if my damage is low what can I run into thats a problem and how do I overcome that". If getting higher dps is not possible currently or you think it won't be possible look outside the box. I believe someone already mentioned the Acrimony gem, there are some passives that I believe are in teh curse line that lower healing ect as well.

Otherwise reset the zone and try again and you will get a different rare. I have run into rares that I could not kill or refused to fight on certain classes due to mods being a bad mix for that build. This problem will always be in the game if you want to have wide build diversity.
