Unique character names
|
Obviously this is a very minor issue but what is the point? Does it really matter if more than one player has a character named "DooDooMcPoopMan"? Assuming you're generating a unique ID for each character in your database, just use that.

" Unique names must be difficult to implement because almost all persistent online games have this and I do not understand why. It seems trivial to plan for this from the start or even add in adter the fact. Blizzard gets around it but just adding the Battle Tag so every name is compond. Would seem GGG could do a workaround where you create a "clan name" or something and then with the comno of clan and the name you choose every one would be unique unless somehow you choose same clan and character name. It is frustrating to me as well. |

And players will whisper how exactly then?

" Character name + unique hash. This isn't a difficult thing to implement, they just choose not to do it. |

Black Desert Online uses Family Names (user name) So you can name your character anything you like e.g. Oprah Winfrey #McMuncha, and play with all the other Oprah Winfreys along side you.
" You message the family name. Last edited by KingDaMuncha#6025 on Dec 26, 2025, 7:12:19 PM
