Why in the world do you lose all progress and your keystone when dc'ing?

I've just lost all 3 pieces to the door to the trail master because of a DC. Then spent 4 hours collecting Cowardly, Deadly and victorious only to dc on the last run again and now I got to spend 1 hours collecting a new cowardly.

There must be a better way than teleporting you out and resetting everything?
incredible stupid to be punished by something like that
