Endgame feedback

Most league mechanics (Breach, Abyss, Ritual, Delirium, Expedition) don’t really have deep progression anymore. Abyss especially feels flat since it doesn’t progress into Kulemak. I don’t think these mechanics need an extra tier they just need something that actually changes the gameplay.

The Atlas content tree is really weak. The base tree is fine, but the content-specific trees suck because you end up in this weird spot where you have “everything and nothing at the same time.” They could keep the 8 points, but raise the maximum to something like 14 and maybe add a new Tier 4. Then every Tier 4 boss could give a universal point, adding up to +6 extra points total (including Atziri, who would need to be added to the system next league). This would force you to commit to one content to fully max it out, and tying back to point #1, if the systems actually had more depth, those extra points could unlock some crazy, fun stuff.

(I think they should just merge all the content trees together outside the core Atlas, and let us build our own setup however we want.)

Drawing a parallel with PoE, which I don’t think is the “right” model in every aspect ,but when it comes to progression, they really should look at it more closely. In PoE1, a huge part of the league feels much more targetable and farm-oriented. You can actually focus on specific mechanics for most of the league, and only when you start approaching the top end you gradually shift strategies. That smooth progression and clear targets make the whole climb feel way more meaningful

There’s nothing truly farmable like “I want to target-farm THIS mechanic to get this items.” In PoE1, you can pick a mechanic, like Sacred Grove, jump into a special area, kill monsters, and they drop a currency that’s actually valuable. PoE2 technically has this, but it’s way weaker.

The content tablets are a missed opportunity. Let’s say I want to farm Breach and get more Breach Splinters. I slot three Breach tablets that increase Breach splinter pack size, add more Breach monsters, etc., but only one of them actually applies the “adds a Breach to the map” implicit. The other two implicits are literally useless. Instead, the implicit should stack, something like: “+50% chance to add a Breach to your map.” With three tablets, you’d end up with 150%, a guaranteed Breach and a 50% chance for a second one. Way better than wasting two slots. (Numbers are just illustrative.)

I actually love running up to the Pinnacle of Flame, but everything just dies after that, progression-wise.

Drawing a parallel with PoE1 again: when you start killing the final Atlas bosses, pushing Maven’s Crucible challenges, unlocking more scarab slots, increasing map Tiers, changing visuals, getting new drops, and farming stuff you literally couldn’t farm before (like Tier 17), it feels magical. That whole progression path is super well-done and genuinely fun. And honestly, I was really happy this league when beating the Arbitrer unlocked progression that actually matters, like getting +2 mods on tablets. It’s small, but it feels great. Stuff like that makes me enjoy the game even more.

I wish PoE2 had something similar. Add a new Pinnacle boss after the Arbitrer, and when you beat it, you unlock a new Atlas slot to equip some sort of endgame item that enhances a specific content type (similar to scarabs). Just something that makes you feel like you’re still progressing through the late endgame. Remove the weird “corrupt your map to access Tier 16” requirement and tie that kind of progression to this new boss instead. I don’t know, it’s tricky because this whole point basically boils down to “there’s just a lack of overall progression as you approach the late endgame.” But that progression layer is exactly what makes PoE1’s Atlas feel so satisfying.

I’m not a big Path of Exile 1 or 2 veteran, I’m just someone who’s genuinely passionate about the game and plays a lot. This league I’ve got around 140 hours, adding up to 661 total hours in PoE2, and in PoE1 I have 346 hours with about 150 of those coming from the previous Keepers league. I’m happy playing right now, and I’m having a great time, Druid has been insanely fun , but when I stop to think about these points, it makes me a bit reflective. I just really hope the game keeps getting better.

Please GGG, bring us a 0.4.1 with great changes and buffs, and bring a 0.5 that completely shifts the overall vision of the endgame by adding more layers of progression. And if you agree with any of the points I mentioned, then I’m truly happy, and grateful for the time I spent thinking about all of this and writing it down.
