Some feedback from a tourist
|
Preface: as a tourist, I generally stop after finishing the campaign because there's no endgame to speak of.
Druid is way cooler than I thought and so far I've only played the wolf. It feels very fluid to go between moving, dodging and attacks and its fun to run around with a big wolfpack. There are some problems with it however and some are probably to do with me while others might just be related to the model itself. A frequent one is that in the temple, it gets stuck in doorways quite often (like 1 in 2 doorways without exaggeration) when either dodge rolling/leaping as the wolf or sprinting as the wolf just moving through the temple. One that's probably to do with me but could just be the wolves themselves is that they seem quite weak both in terms of life and damage and needing to constantly re-summon them with Pounce, while probably what was intended, is quite annoying. In general, having done the campaign a few times now, things have become pretty routine and it goes smoothly every time but the one thing that's lacking is crafting. It feels like crafting just doesn't exist in the game during the entire campaign because the mods on gear are so low tier and hardly apply to the character (light radius on anything, accuracy on melee weapons, crit chance showing up when you're not going for crit, bottom tier evasion/attribute/energy shield rolls, etc.) that it means finding an upgrade can take not just many areas but many acts, and once you do, it only barely catches you up to where you need to be to handle the current level or area. Runes simply don't provide enough values to resistances to make up for the lack of those stats on gear and I find that vendors never sell anything that could be an upgrade to my gear or even anything usable really. They're just there to sell stuff *to* and the loop of picking up everything hoping to find anything worth using, identifying it and then inevitably selling all of it for some shards that never add up to any amount of usable crafting currency leaves a very sour taste in my mouth and frequently makes me stop playing for a few days. The gambling is also quite expensive for the amount of gold you actually earn early on vs what it costs to see if there's something potentially useful so it's not just a risk, it's mostly a waste. All of this leaves me, as a tourist, feeling like it's not just in development but stagnant. I don't care about the economy or streamer temples or whatever reddit is complaining about because I don't go there. This is just my experience and I'm relaying it in case someone reads it and finds something useful in it. Last bumped on Jan 4, 2026, 6:19:30 PM

"Crafting" isnt better in end game either.
I did the campaign 3 times this season, one character had nothing good, weapon or gear. It was extremely painfull to even finish the campaign with it. Another one got more lucky and it was a breeze. The fact that you can only roll random modifier with the amount of modifier existing make it really painfull. So it's nice they made us get more orbs of all sort during the campaign (was even worst before having league mechanics), but if it's only to roll useless mods for your build it's not very helpfull afterall. My biggest grip with this game is the "crafting" that shouldnt be call crafting at all. Hopefully they find something to make it more deterministic without being too OP. Than we could finaly call that "crafting" SSF player

" I mostly share your sentiment. However, I completely disagree with this statement. The endgame is far from perfect, and we already know the next update is aimed at improving it, but saying there’s ‘nothing’ is kind of an insult when you compare it to what other games usually offer. If you’ve never played through the Atlas, it’s actually pretty fun to explore for the first time, and it’s better than it’s ever been. I get the impression that your claim of not caring what other people say doesn’t really apply here. | |

" Indeed, runes are a bad replacement for the crafting table, working better as a suplemental system. Please GGG, let me craft a t3 suffix on my ring instead of gambling for light radius. The bench would be a great currency sink too, fixing many problems with a single feature. |

I am quite sure there will not be any true crafting in PoE2 because GGG is trying to create a gambling culture in the game. Look at the mystery boxes, they want to make money from it so gambling culture is essential.
