Invest in proactive server scaling

Or pay for a better server provider, whatever it is that causes instances to crash and stuttering to be widely occurring for players drove me from keepers early and it's probably gonna be the final nail for me with Phrecia 2.0 too.

Basically every league since leagues have been a thing has been plagued by instability and crashes, to the point where this feels like a useless post, because I know it will not be addressed.
On an event start it's at least somewhat understandable, if frustrating because there's room for misjudging amount of players and the log-in rush, but when it's happening mid event/league it's the type of thing that makes me have second thoughts on starting the next league. When it hits in the middle, it's after a lot of time and investment in a character.

I have lost many characters in HC to it and many many div in SC both from not being able to pick up drops, and more literally in ultimatum where my currency gets deleted when the server crashes. It's way more frustrating than anything related to game balance or in-game mechanics and functionality.

The foundation under your game is not stable, fix it please :(.

eu server smell like shit that's all better play on NA serv with high ping than EU server and GGG cry that's not their fault when all their concurrent have no problem at all
they already 'invest' into that - its called demand based scaling (provisioning) and it is a basic orchestrator functionality since ~2015

what you experience is a combination of two things:

- game sessions out of predicted bounds (outliers caused by extreme juicing and situations like 'mobs cannot die' or 'hexbloom support + blighted map') - when one of the sessions on a host machine MASSIVELY exceeds what is 'theirs' and fight for resources with 'quiet' instances - eventually leading to folding of entire host. any form of stupid 'juice' is a risk, when it gets popular and cheap - ggg usually reacts

- routing. this is a mess on so many levels that it is better to leave alone. routing is something small actors like GGG have no impact on.

servers themselves are the same hosts used by 1000s of other companies all around the world. these are fine. problems - for some, because i do not experience such issues and im EU - are elsewhere

first one can be solved by AGGRESSIVE nerfs to uber juice - but we all know players dont like that, they 'deserve' to reach game-crashing levels of absurdity. second one can be solved with money and GGG does not have this kind of money

Yeah when I say I want them to invest in proactive scaling or better servers what I mean is I specifically want them to spend more money on infrastructure. I'm aware they do demand based scaling, I want them to have more of a buffer, or if it's routing or something else rather than just a lack of available server resources, to spend money on whatever the infrastructure issue is.

I take issue with the idea of GGG not having enough money for a stable player experience. They're just spending it on other areas (like developing a new game, not something usually known for its lack of expense), and just about every company in the world is allergic to spending a single dollar more than they can get away with.

I am saying: Spend the extra money on stability please. It matters.

it matters, when it affects majority. i play a lot, during league launches as well - and to be frank, i strongly believe at least some of the 'server' issues are reported by wifi gamers, overheating laptops and client-side lags (forcing 2nd gen i7 to do inviheart blight and complaining)

playing lockstep makes YOUR lag server lag. it works both ways.

because when POE realm lags, truly lags, EVERYONE notice

other than that it is mostly a) banana-stupid-juice, b) routing (GGG is too small to do ANYTHING in this area. if you doubt that, i politely will ask you to investigate this matter more) c) USER F ERRORS

GGG mostly know what causes these - again, not widespread - 'lag' issues, but telling people to simply upgrade their potatoes is a PR nightmare and people completely forgot that WiFi is NOT for gaming, many current gamers do not even know cable connection exists. so they do the only sensible thing - say nothing
You're not wrong, but none of those situations apply to my setup and global was popping off with people asking if the servers were dying yesterday leading up to when I made the post.

I'm aware GGG is likely unable to have much impact on ISP-side routing issues, but there are absolutely things they could be doing to improve routing. Also, frequently when I encounter these issues, changing gateways or swapping to using a VPN makes no difference which makes me think it's likely not actually a routing issue, and is instead something on the servers or with POE.

Also I don't know that GGG needs you to come up with new avenues to defend them for each post lol, when I push back on routing being unsolvable you don't need to pivot to it being user error. I think I have given my feedback at this point.

With now another game forget anything like this comming for poe. Most money is being straight up fueled to the other game than their best one.
"Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."

"The strange voice showed Aul a future where his legacy was forgotten, where new cultures broke themselves upon Aul's ruined world."

Take me back when poe was the actual focus.
