Thoughts about the currency and socket system
well from what iv seen there isnt a currency system and regards to the socket system, sockets arent permanent ( you can interchange gems). so i was wondering what everyone thoughts were on those.

I think they will add a currency later . I can't imagine a game like this without a currency .
Try not to waste it . Last edited by OrNaM3nT#5568 on Sep 6, 2011, 6:46:00 AM

It seems to be pretty set in stone. Here's a link to the dev diary in which they talk about the currency system.

I think this belongs in one of the PoE boards.

yeah i read about the whole currency and i Really like it. the socketing is "different" in the sense that you can re-use Gems which i dont know how that will turn out. it might not even be an issue, i was just curious as to see what that would be like.

The gems are tied to skills and abilities, which is why they are removable. Imagine being a caster and getting your first spell, putting it into your weapon and leveling it up as you use it. You get a nice new weapon after defeating a boss and...well...you don't have any spells anymore...time to find more gemstones.
This also allows you to have different load outs, a diversity in gameplay, which Ia m very excited for. We will see though. |

I'm a fan of sockets in games.
It drives me nuts to have an archer carrying 2-3 swords/maces etc for stats when they can't wield them or use them effectively. Sockets is the fix. |

Huge fan of the skills/sockets/gems system, from the gameplay footage I've seen and discussions I've read. Not sure how I feel about the barter system instead of currency, but it's different enough of an idea to have me very intrigued.
For Bob's sake, it's not rocket surgery.

The barter system seems very interesting since most games I've played with currency have had issues here and there with their economies, making for difficult trading.
