I'm so sick of seeing these questions, the idea behind this games market is a barter based system there is no set value, it's is all subjective. Any rate anyone says or try's to set is subjective based on a many different factors amount currently being sold/bought how popular they are esc esc. Don't know what people are willing to trade for use $ offer it up for trade see what people are willing to give for it the more you trade/barter the more you will figure it out.
-Edit- This player has a good guide on barter etiquette it wouldn't hurt you to read it as it well may prevent you from being muted again. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/79292 Last edited by egogoose#0593 on Jan 28, 2013, 6:28:44 AM

Whetstone isn't listed, it's basically treated like garbage. I'd say a stack of 20 Whetstones for 1 Alch is probably fair. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. " Literally the first thing on the top of the page webpages like these are again subjective they are at best usable for average rates even then its' still subjective. Beyond that people who try to use this page as a trade bible are a bit stupid I've sold items above and below whats listed on the page again I say this game has a barter system pages like these really hold no place in the games economy. OK, this is just ridiculous.
If we were at a 1999 Magic: the Gathering event, this is what this thread would be like: jstq: Hey, I'm thinking about trading a pile of rares for this guy's foil Urza's Rage. This look fair to you? (egogoose, who was walking by, stops to a halt and interrupts) egogoose: You shouldn't need to ask anyone! It's all subjective anyway. There are no set values. I'm so sick of you people! ScrotieMcB: Um, I just bought a copy of InQuest... Looks good to me. egogoose: InQuest?!? They don't know anything! Yet people look to their stupid price list as if it's a bible! Price guides like that shouldn't even exist! I don't think it particularly matters that, as far as I can remember, InQuest's price guide was pretty inaccurate. The point is that here are two people working together on the same team trying to set values for tradeable game objects — and yes, at some point a value must be set, otherwise the trade will never occur because you can't trade for an unspecific number — and you're butting in and discouraging people from completing that task, in a bizarrely fascist manner. It seems you are a bigger enemy of the barter economy than --link removed-- is, in behavior if not in intention. Please go troll somewhere else. " TBH i would feel that more than 20 are needed for 1 alch... getting whetstones is really easy (thanks to the 40% quality vendor receipe)... Proud 5th duelist in the Jul 1 2012 Ladder Race and in the Nov 3 2012 Solo Turbo Race :D And even prouder 4th Templar in the Nov 10 Four-hour Party Hardcore Race :P Current OB success: top 20 Ranger in 105 Minute Turbo Solo (S4E9) Last edited by ionface#0613 on May 21, 2013, 12:32:39 AM

"I'm fully aware, I'm assuming the guy wanting the Whetstones is the type that never picks up white items because it's "inefficient", there's probably a market there When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. " That would be a steal for whetstone selling guy since the recipe to get 1 Alchemy might take up to 28 whetstones + 1 transmutation + 1 wisdom scroll (+ possible costs to buy 2 white items from vendors). Last edited by ionface#0613 on May 21, 2013, 12:32:51 AM

" NPC Price do not in anyway set value on things. It only sets a floor/roof value on a one way transaction. Sure you can turn 4 jewellers into a fusing at npc. Meaning nobody who know about the NPC price would go and say "Trading my 5 jewellers for 1 fusing". But thats only one way, you can't turn fusing into jewellers. So if someone is desperate for jewellers, he'd have to say something like "Trading my fusing for 3 of your jewellers". He could say 4, but then the person with the jeweller, if he wanted fusing at that price would've gone to npc already. Also, bulk comes into play in this, often people don't feel like sitting at npc buying hundred of orb. This is just an example, obviously someone desperate for jewellers would most likely trade alteration, not fusing (since he'll be needing fusing after anyway) Edit: Maybe simpler this way A fusing will never be worth more then 4 jewellers. A fusing can be worth less then 4 jewellers. 4 Jewellers will never be worth less then a fusing. 4 Jewellers can be worth more then a fusing.
