Do YOU Play "Single-Player Mode"?

I play 100% solo, self found no trading.

To be honest, I would LIKE to trade since I would like to exalt a few items I use (and have only ever found one), but one look at the trade chat and I have no freaking idea what's going on. This is the first online game I've ever played so no surprised there I guess.

DON'T turn on trade chat.

If you want to trade, go to poe.xyz.is. Search for the items you want. Whisper the seller that you're interested (click "Buyout only" and "Online only" at the bottom for maximum comfort). Trade.

To avoid getting ripped off with regard to currency values, visit something like http://exilestats.com/ex beforehand to get some idea of what your orbs are worth. If you found an Exalt (worth about 23-25 Chaos Orbs), chances are you can get some nice items for it by trading.

To answer the original question: I never party, I trade from time to time (about once every two weeks) since some builds requiring Uniques (especially Dischargers) are pretty hard to do self-found - I could play many months without that special Unique ever dropping.

Party to grind for xp, and solo to grind for items. I like the challenge and pacing better when doing quests solo. I guess I might like non-solo better if I found a good guild to play with? I sometimes trade for a skill gem or a build-enabling unique if I'm already committed to a build, but my favorite is to make builds around any interesting uniques that drop. I almost never sell anything. I don't know what the fair prices for anything are, and it's annoying hoarding things in my stash tabs, and I can't find any buyers.
I play purely solo self-found. Trading feels like cheating. Like, I get the exact feeling out of trading as I do from entering cheat codes into a single-player game: it's kinda fun for a little while, but then I promptly lose interest in the game because I didn't earn what I've got. This is only made all the worse by the fact that PoE has no trading system so you have to do it the way games did fifteen years ago.

Unfortunately, PoE's loot system is completely broken and I end up just playing for two weeks every few months.

Solo is just better because party play is too chaotic and usually not at the same challenge level.
I play 99,9% solo, except for trading.. that is just a necessary evil to survive in poe.

I play 90% solo, 5% in private groups, 5% in pay'n'play high level maps.
I do currency trading. Mostly uptrading currencies or buying alchs/chaos/chisels for rolling maps.
I do occasionally fulfill skill gems WTBs. A good way to turn excess gems in to alchs/chaos imo.

In CB/OB I did buy most items, but now it is just not worth the time.

I too play majority solo. Most of my stuff is self found although at level 86 now I did buy a couple items that just were not dropping (got wife, kid, job so grinding time gets less and less). I tend to trade mostly though orb to orbs. Trying to 6link my stupid chest piece used over 2K and no 6link. ugh!

Only time I really play in group is to help a couple friends move their new alts up in the story. Or when my cousin in law gets really bored and begs me to do a map or two with him. But that requires job/wife/kid to be placated. perfect storm of peace and tranquility is tough.

I play self-found in SC and HC. It's more fun that way and getting a new and good piece of gear that you found yourself is super exciting. The only trading I do is to give away orbs that people might need as I generally end up with too many by never trading and because I love to hoard orbs.

Granted, I don't believe in the whole self-found league idea. Trading is an important part of this game, I just choose to not partake in it.

if you ever want to donate some alts/jewelers/fuses to help me 6link feel free :)

There are really only two things that I miss when playing single-player PoE:

Pause
Currently, if I want to take a 5-minute break, I need to return to town or risk a random straggler slowly beating me to death. So I'd like to be able to pause the game if I'm the only player in a private instance. I'd even be fine with a paused instance counting as unoccupied.

(An alternative solution could be to lower the agro range, and thus reduce the chance of something wandering in from off-screen. But this would likely have a much bigger gameplay impact than a pause function.)

Stash management
I'm a big fan of premium stash tabs. But managing the contents of stash tabs is still cumbersome. I emptied out my domination stashes last night, and that was just horrible. PoE is already fairly mouse-intensive (read: RSI-inducing), but stash management in particular is needlessly much so. I'd personally prefer to be rid of the current Tetris-style inventory. But even if that's a no-go, there are plenty of ways to make moving items around (particularly in bulk) a lot easier.

(To be fair, PoE's stash management isn't much worse than what I see in other item-heavy games. I'm still kinda puzzled why the industry doesn't seem to improve in this area. Particularly since several games have third-party addons/utilities for this which prove that doing a better job is entirely feasible.)
