1.The Crash only occurs early-mid phase of the blight
2.The Crash only occurs EXACTLY AS I CLICKED UPGRADES on tower

I had the same issue, blights were fine until this league. Someone posted on reddit about disabling sounds in the config.ini file. I tried it and it seems to work for me. Downside is that I only have voices and loot drops on now.

Same problem since league start. It crashes randomly when I have the tower menu open. I deleted the custom stuff under AppData\Roaming\Path of Exile folder and let the steam client check installed files. More than two times for now. Does not help. Blight is the only encounter that crashes since this league

I have some feedback

I tested CptHeartless tip over several days to make sure it is working. I did run many blighted maps and scarabs. And yes, this works. The interaction with tower-menu is somehow related with a sound bug/issue or something.

Go to this folder
\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile

Open production_Config.ini with notepad

Search for and change it to
sound_effects_volume2=false

I have the same Motherboard sound card as OP with same driver
Realtek HD Audio 2nd output (Realtek High Definition Audio)
6.0.8746.1
I tried turning that switch to false , and I am still crashing every time I interact with any tower-menu in a blight encounter

I run the launcher with the -ns parameter as well so turning the switch to false shouldn't make a difference at all

Any other suggestions ??

what if you disable that hardware unit in the windows device list.
Thank you , disabling the hardware has done the trick

Just got a blighted map from Zana , no crashes :)

Though the map didnt go well it was really great that nothing crashed while frantically clicking towers

Nope still crashing , though its more sporadic now , first blight encounter of the day , it crashes on the tower upgrade on the 2nd or 3rd one , thereafter it works fine the rest of the blight encounter if i get back in time.

Otherwise just avoiding the blight encounters in maps, missing on oils which sucks.

Running with -ns parameter on launch
Disabled sound device on machine
Edited config to read sound_effects_volume2=false

Any other suggestions ??
