Detonate mines not detonating instantly

I have a Ice Trap build and I'm trying to use detonate mines in the left click. However, I place the mines and no matter where I put the actuation of Detonate Mines it never triggers the mines, They go off eventually as normal. My understanding is the first one should trigger immediately like the gem states

Why would that happen? Recommendations, Ideas? I don't know what else to try?

Traps are not mines is the answer you're looking for.
