Reached 40/40 - Settlers Of Kalguur Feedback
I'm going to be trying to keep my feedback shorter this time around. Overall, this league has probably been my most successful to date. The Currency Exchange has been a tremendous boost to my enjoyment of a league as it allowed me to bulk buy and sell a vast majority of items. It alone has allowed me to reach levels of wealth I've never achieved previously, because I can more reliably sell things I had and buy things I need. ----- SETTLERS OF KALGUUR LEAGUE The best things I've gotten from this content are a couple Power Runes from the bosses plus a Mirror Shard from a 15m shipment. It's a good league, nice idle source of currency if you make sure to run optimally for gold. Other than that, I avoided interacting with the league beyond pursuing challenges. This league is just borrowed power and there's no chance this is going core, so I'm not going to get attached to something that won't be staying. Given how the community is still reeling from Affliction league being gone, which I warned would happen in my feedback thread for it, I feel like I will be better off for doing this. ----- THE CURRENCY EXCHANGE This is the biggest highlight of the league for me. I wrote about how much I love this new system in another thread. To keep it short, it's one of the biggest quality of life features introduced in the game and has done wonders in improving my experience. I hope that of everything introduced this league, this feature gets rolled into core and expanded on to include more things. I want to see Forbidden Tomes, Chronicles of Atzoatl, maps, and more be added to this system. ----- THE CHALLENGES I won't go through every challenge as most were doable, but I do wish to highlight some criticism on the ones I consider the worst: 34. Extravagant Equipment If you hate the slot machine that is crafting, the only purpose this challenge serves is to be a colossal currency sink. I'm sure there are better, more productive ways to make you spend currency that has a worthwhile outcome. 37. Challenging Competitors The boss encounters are heavily RNG gated. Because I couldn't for the life of me defeat the Black Knight without being hit by his laser, I had to spend a long time trying to get Sasan to appear. Other than that, the boss fights were enjoyable. 38. Nightmarish Nemeses I still think T17 maps are overtuned and far above being considered a bridge between T16 and uber content. Having to run each of them at their most juiced has forced me to do something I absolutely hate, which is paying for a carry service. I believe that you shouldn't be able to just buy your way to completing challenges, but considering my two 200d+ builds simply can't tackle this content, I felt I had no other choice. Please don't make challenges so difficult to encourage carry services. ----- WHAT WILL I DO NOW? I'm still in the middle of experimenting with ways to make currency which I can use to hopefully farm up my builds faster. When that is done, I might experiment with new builds besides the two I've been running, depending on my mood. Failing that, I might hop back over to Starsector, 7 Days to Die, Risk of Rain 2, Gunfire Reborn, and Caves of Qud. Been itching to get back into these games. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. Last edited by Pizzarugi#6258 on Sep 18, 2024, 4:33:52 PM Last bumped on Sep 20, 2024, 6:23:50 PM

" There were some not very good challenges but this is def not one of them, "colossal currency sink" what? It's dirt cheap to do this challenge. Just use: Sacred Orb,Tailoring or Tempering Orb,Conqueror Exalted Orb,Awakener's Orb,Orb of Dominance/conflict and thats it, its cheap. You just have to use one of each. " Maybe it's because I've spent the vast majority of my time in PoE with significantly less currency compared to recently, I still have the mindset that blowing several divines just to tick off a challenge to be a big currency sink. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

" Excuse me?! You know who decides whether or not to use a carry service for a challenge? YOU. Don't make challenges so difficult to encourage carry services.....that bar literally can only pertain to you and your own experience, along with your own threshold. Other people right now get carries for challenges that are far easier, and will continue to do so no matter what the difficulty is. It is 100% on you to decide to not engage in a carry, not GGG. NO matter what the future challenge is, they will always be exactly as "hard" and exactly as "carry-worthy" as YOU personally feel they are in the moment. Plus....its a challenge. They should be way harder than they currently are. 99% of them are not even challenges. The sheer existence of being able to be carried through challenges....encourages carry services across ALL difficulty levels. Last edited by mefistozxz#6750 on Sep 18, 2024, 5:36:46 PM

" If running juiced T17 and uber bosses aren't considered challenges for you, then I guess I should be grateful GGG is only going this far. The last thing we need are challenges that require mirror builds to complete. And yes, GGG are making these challenges more difficult. I was able to get 40/40 in both ToTA and Affliction entirely on my own without carries. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

" missed the point and didn't read what I wrote.... YES some of those particular challenges are challenges. What about all the rest? Is it really a "challenge" to use currency? Is it really a "challenge" to finish the story? Is it really a "challenge" to run x number of maps? No it....really isn't. And no I actually disagree. There SHOULD be challenges that only the best possible players can beat. It should be DAMN HARD for someone to get 40/40. Require specialized tests of skill. You are not entitled to get 40/40. The very definition of a challenge lends itself to only a "special" player getting 40/40, one with skills that others do not. Love how you use "reached 40/40" as if its some sort of self achievement.....and then you say that you bought carries this league. So you didn't really "reach" 40/40.....you bought 40/40. Which gives your credibility a huge hit. Last edited by mefistozxz#6750 on Sep 18, 2024, 6:45:19 PM

" you're very close to what OP wanted to convey but missed it. he wants the game to be in a place where challenges are reasonably doable by everyone of various skill levels. as it is, it's actually easier and cheaper to just buy a carry. some people say we should tank GGG for letting us get carried. but sometimes i find its weird. its like some guy putting a juicy candy on top a high shelf. then knocking down a nearby chair so it becomes harder to reach. then we have tall people that have no issue reaching the candy. they enjoy it. some of the shorter people ask for tall people to help and get the help they need. later when the short people thank the tall people and later casually say "man it would be nice if i could get the candy without your help", the tall people say "oh, you should be thanking the guy who knocked the chair away for allowing tall people to help". i do get that challenges need to be erm... challenging. lol. but its a tall order. Thing is challenges at least this league are not "hard" they are just grindy. Other than doing the T17 challenges (that for some reason are harder for me than ubers) the rest it just takes time, its more boring than "hard".
Anyways 40/40 challenges doesn't mean anything special, world record speedrun?Hell yeah. Gauntlet?Yeah. But challenges is just a way to spend time in the league when you are already bored like me and waiting for next league. Last edited by Satan on Feb 10, 1692, 10:00:00 PM

They probably needed to load the end challenges up a bit more this league, i'm sat at my 37, could get 38 if i hit 100 then would just have the 250% quants and Ubers to do which is beyond what i'm willing to put in like now.
One of my friends is going through the challenges however and is already at 32 and they've done like no boss content, I think they will end up at 35/36 without even getting all the watchstones and buying 1 T17 carry. That just seems a little odd. As to OP's post I kinda just agree, extravagant currency was just a currency sink which is pretty common to be fair but it was also a bit too involved. 250% quant T17s is ridiculous that has to be about as hard as you can make something right now without adding 100% delirious on it. I also thought complete X map modifiers / 3000 quant of invitations were really grindy, I was at 35 challenges and only had like 1000 map modifiers doing another 3k with absolutely no purpose was just zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Overall great league though, agree with 90% of OP's take. They could do with some bad luck protection on boss spawns/power runes as usual but they never really go for that one |

" They could benefit from that in general across the board but definitely agree with this one, It's such a common complaint almost every league though i personally haven't become hindered by it to the point of posting about it. For sure some things they cant modify too much or it loses purpose but surely a pity tracker would just make sure its bare minimum encounter rate not make you rich right. Innocence forgives you
