opening a new instance over and over looking at load times (which can spawn area OR master now so even that got kinda halfed in effectiveness) is an exploit too i guess so ud just run an instance over and over to get like 1 area every 20 runs and then get a 1% chance to drop a midnight...

if i have an area that 100% has a corrupted zone in it no matter how fucking hard it is even if every mob is atziri and i then have a 1% chance to get a midnight fragment in the certain corrupted area and i can run said zone over and over... THATS grinding to me

the way it is now it would be like clearing 20 minutes of trash mobs in a wow instance for example just to realize that the bosses arent spawned --> go outside --> reset --> repeat --> after 20 tries u get a spawned boss --> kill it --> didnt roll the 1% chance for ur item --> repeat the 400 minute ordeal

that is not grinding that is more like a factory job mindlessly doing the same shit over and over for 12 hours a day not getting anywhere...

and its not even that but maps are pure chance too (better have an mf culler as friend) i cannot get above lvl 71 maps after 700 hours of playing even if i only run pack/magic with a 6 man grp

uniques are random so u cant bank on that 1% soul taker chance but rather the 1% chance to roll 1 unique out of 200 or smth

at least enable us to grind the instance where we wont get the drop we need anyway instead of forcing us to "grind" for the instance that we'll never get that wouldnt drop the item that we need anyway...


At first I didn't really understand you but towards the end it all came together.

A solution if GGG would listen to their customers: Make Apex of Sacrifice a droppable map.

What this would fix:

1. No more corrupted zones, no need to implement corrupted zones in maps, no need to spend time and money "re-balancing" corrupted zone spawns.
2. High level solo players would be able to enjoy Atziri (End-game content) more often. (Assuming high level/long term players ARE in fact the #1 source of mtx purchases, thus revenue)
3. Reduced server stress. (when a bunch of end-game players are spamming an instance to farm sac fragments I'm sure it's not good for the servers THUS the "nerf/removal" of corrupted zones in those areas in order to reduce server stress)


EDIT: A possible solution for "remaining sacrifice fragments" would be to implement a new Vendor Recipe for sacrifice fragments. IE Dawn/Noon/Dusk/Midnight creates 1 Apex of Sacrifice "Map item" which can then be used in a map device to run Atziri.
What this would solve:
1. Players still in possession of fragments AFTER the patch/update would be able to exchange said fragments for an actual map.

I agree with you somewhat and here's why:

I believe they do need to keep rolling out fresh content whilst SIMULTANEOUSLY keeping the rest of the game balanced and polished.


(I know you didn't say they should do this but)
What I don't agree with:

Rolling out act 4 without fixing a lot of issues/bugs that are still interrupting gameplay or at the very least making gameplay less enjoyable.

Rolling out act 4 before solving issues with end-game content such as Atziri being nearly inaccessible for players not willing to buy Sacrifice sets.

"Self found" is very popular in this game because it allows the player to choose when/if they want to interact with other players. Personally I would prefer not to buy sacrifice fragments/sets even if they were only 1 scroll each, I would prefer to be able to farm them and run them in my own time.

This is the reason for video games: Entertainment and the ability to do what you want). I don't play video games because I enjoy being told what to do and when to do it, I play video games because I enjoy NOT being told what to do and when to do it.

i farmed the archives for corrupted areas a few hours in the last 2-4 days and i found at least ~5 areas in 1h. now i found 1 in ~5h. (i cant say if im just unlucky after 1 day, but its strange directly after the patch)

its not wanted to farm those areas there? oder what did "improve" in the generation?

I posted similar a few pages back. Went 20 archives in a row with no CZ yesterday...same today.

So it looks like they've screwed over fragment farming.

Considering giving POE a rest until Act 4 due to this. I have a ranger than I have turned into a tornado shot build using one of the builds posted and it was really working well, but as solo self found it now looks like I'll never get to give Atziri a go with it so seems pointless continuing.
Where is the Mortal Conviction Nerf?

Snapshotting fixed, now legally possible to run 10 Auras lol
