For people who are still mostly on the old tree, would a reasonable middle ground be to get aul's to wrath doesn't reserve mana and then use both heralds that way rather than getting the mastermind of discord? That way you get a bit of damage boost from 2x heralds, but still have all the golems and elemental reflection immunity.

(This is the first league I've ever made it past act 4, let alone to maps so there's probably something obvious I'm missing)

Herald of Thunder will be useless without Mastermind, we mostly run it just for the 25% penetration.

Hello, I am a new player and my first character couldnt even clear ACT 9 and I am following this build for my second character and have finally cleared the story.

I would like to know how to run the gem setup? I have One Armour with 6 link and a staff with 6 links. How are you fitting the Storm Brand 6 gem setup? Because I can fit only the Arc Gem setup and the Wave of conviction setup? So where to put the third 6 gem setup for the Storm Brand and how to effectively use it in Boss Fights?

Thanks for any replies.
I just want to tell you that I really appreciate your time and effort. This is a really helpful and good organized build. Was really easy to get into it and still having fun playing.
Big thanks!
Why the move from Leap Slam to Flame Dash?

Wasn't the point of Leap Slam to have a 0 cooldown movement skill? Why replace that with one that has a cooldown?

Four reasons for that. Many disliked Leap Slam and already used Flame Dash anyway, Arcane Surge uptime is now almost permanent, Leap Slam 3-4L wouldn't fit with the new gem setup and not needing to scale Attack Speed gives more room for chaos res while also getting some of the nice influence suffixes like Tailwind or Culling Strike, without needing to invest trillions of exalts.

@OverlordWarden: Wave of Conviction is on swap.

My thought on the changes: I think the build is much better now, but I do understand some of the frustrated players.

Basically, I think the revisions make the build slightly less forgiving but dramatically more effective. This seems to be down mostly to the removal of fortify. I say this because prior to the changes I had already removed the soul tether belt in favor of a Stygian vise and was doing fine without the leech because of the resultant increase in life.

It should be noted that I had earlier changed up a great deal of the build for more damage when I got to red/deep yellow maps and conqs, going heavily in favor of shock and abandoning herald of ice and three dragons altogether to do more damage. I am now back to using the build as listed in the revisions with the exception of the weapon swap. As you can see, I'm a PS4 player and there's no really effective way to weapon swap on console while under fire, so I am just doing without the exposure from wave of conviction. If I had an effective way to pull this off, the build would probably be even better.

This brings up a thought for Enki: What about dumping power charge on crit in favor of wave of conviction in the storm brand six link for those who don't want to weapon swap? Not sure if power charge on crit or empower would be the best gem to "dump" to accomplish this or if it is even worth considering.

Basically, the new design makes it so boss fights take far less time resulting in far fewer chances to screw up. Previously, tricked out metamorphs were taking twice the time for me that they do now with these revisions. However, if we DO screw up, it is far more likely to result in a one shot death than a "I just barely survived that but lived to fight on" moment. Since eventually I will foul things up, I like the increased damage much better. Map clear is also vastly superior to earlier versions in my opinion.

Additionally, we also have the option to storm brand things to death in situations where the bosses are just chaos and there's almost no time to stop and arc. (I found the lightning elder guardian in a red map and had to resort to this tactic since he now covers the field in tons of crap you have to avoid. I pretty much storm branded him and then dodged while the brand did its work.)

All in all, although I know everyone hates change, the alterations to the build have made it far more effective. Thanks for all the hard work Enki. I know it must have taken hours of experimentation with PoB to get this where it is now. I, for one, appreciate it greatly.

As a new player i think i agree with your assessment. Soul tether with the leech ascendency plus fortify makes me feel much safer as someone who doesn’t yet know most of the boss rotations or high risk trash mobs.

Im trying to figure out if theres a middle ground where I can keep my ascendency, wave of conviciton and soul tether, but still use brand. (Dropping the second herald)

Unsure if the brand becomes useless without the other changes?

Your alternate sounds good, but is it still effective without the extra herald and related 25 percent penetration from the ascendency?
I think it's worth mentioning for those who are swapping to the new setup that it really requires corrupted soul granted by the glorious vanity jewel to work. Otherwise the sustain will suffer. It takes over the functionality of soul tether but in a different way - soul tether is rendered useless if we have zero life leech. Glorious vanity with Doryani now costs 80 chaos so just keep that in mind. More details if you expand spoiler below.

Spoiler

Hybrid eHP pool without anything = your ES leech will try hard to regen against all incoming damage but will fail miserably. It is just too week. Your upper 1/3 of your health pool will replenisg like a slug. Only other option here without gear upgrade is to convert the life regen gained from passives and stone golem to ES regen through Zealoth Oath and use life flask to replenish life when life pool is hit. Otherwise your life regen will only be active when you have 0 ES which is - in most cases - too little too late considering we have 4-5K life which is an easy 1 tap for this content.

Hybrid eHP pool with soul tether + life leech = your life leech and and ES leech will be active all the time when hit, sustaining the full capacity of your eHP pool with full effectiveness, which is considerably stronger. That is why equiping soul tether felt so good for survivability.

Hybrid eHP pool with corrupted soul = incoming damage is split equally between HP and ES. As a result everytime you take a hit ES leech, life regen, life flask (and potentially life leech if you can get it from gear or corrupted nodes) will start regening against damage immediately with full effect. And that is WAY stronger than ES leech alone. As a side note if you can get some % lightning damage leeched as life it might be worth speccing into Zealoth Oath to boost ES sustain with the converted life regen but one needs to test how that feels in action.

3rd option seems to be the strongest. And I think that glorious vanity is a huge defensive boost and solves sustain problems. It's somewhat annoying to implement into the build with all the randomness going on with the passives but still... And either way it is paramount to stack serious amounts of chaos resist otherwise you will die anyways since chaos damage bypasses ES.

In comparison based on my character:
-without glorious vanity: max 186 ES leech in the upper third and then 184 max ES leech + 648 life regen + 624 from flask = 1458 when on dangerously low eHP. ~6500 combined life pool
-with glorious vanity: 324 max ES leech + 648 life regen + 624 from flask = 1596 - which active all the time. ~8000 combined life pool

If you can get glorious vanity then the new setup is great, more survivability and more damage, smoother movement. If you can't get the jewel maybe try zealoth oath + life flask combo or stick to life leech from the ascendency + soul tether.

I make this build first and want to ask what to change in my set.I got 30 chaos and dont wanna buy unnecessarily items. i have 4425 hp and 1357 energy shield and dont know how to make more energy.
A lot of pages I haven't been able to read yet so im sorry if this stuffs been said a lot but I've invested a ton in the build and finished switching over to the new setup/tree/gear last night and played a lot with it today and wanted to chime in.

Damage is much better, survivability feels like it took a slight hit. I think the survivability hit is from the loss of the belt and ES leach BUT after altering my playstyle a bit its getting better. The storm brands DO WORK, you can set them down and a lot of times they'll tear thru a boss as I just dodge whatever mechanics I need to. Metamorphs are a ton easier, they go down so fast. Big bosses are still a little rough and a lot of random 1 shots.

I like the changes overall.
