I'm totally serious man. GGG's first priority is to make game breaking items. Naturally they'd expand on the Kaom's set.

Try to find an unique 1 hand Axe, that doesnt exist =P

My thought is that 1 hand axe will come first.
On a serious note though, no unique item should ever be best in slot. That's poor design mechanics that only pigeon hole people. Now in the case of face breakers, or other "build-enablers" then those are perfectly alright; because they effect one build and as the term implies enable it. But general items like a godly 1H weapon or Koam's heart (which mind you, is only so godly because of the path-of-life-nodes this game's current balance revolves around) should not be so prevalent.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying unique items should suck. On the contrary, I think they should be the top 90-95% in the best case scenario for some uniques. Instead I am suggesting that the game's own random number generator should always have an incredibly low chance to spawn items that are best in slot. That is what promotes a healthy, long term, item grind. People who demand best in slot uniques don't fully comprehend the full scope of what they are asking, which is in effect to reach an "end" in an item grind game with no goal or progress left.

The ideal situation would be.... Player uses rare weapons for the majority of the time. Finds or purchases a great unique item that out performs the rares he/she has been using for that slot. Then after a long period of farming or some luck, the game spawns the godly rare item for him to upgrade the unique.



Anyway, thanks for reading. That's my two cents on the subject of uniques in games over the passed two decades.

I Totally agree, although I would love there to be some high-end versions of some of the build enablers(particularly chests)

Edit: or the ability to increase the base stats to those of a higher level base item. I.E Holy Chainmail -> Devout Chainmail -> Saintly Chainmail. This would also increase the value of high ilvl 4s/3s items(such as windscream)
