{HOTW Submission} Assault on the Crimson Throne
Hello everyone
This post is about where I spend most of my time in PoE while Im not running maps or partying. This hideout depicts how a bunch of rebelling masters can destroy any army they come across. I also wanted to added a lot of small things and detail to bring the hideout to life and make it look a lot better. We start at the gate that has been breached by the masters. Then they make their way through the fortress killing any Blackguard soldiers that stand in there way. Then we see a few of the masters that have claimed the way point and have taken over the catapult to cripple the Blackguards defenses. The final floor shows Vagan who has captured the Throne room and has claimed it as his own. The Fortress has fallen... http://imgur.com/a/fMnYa Here is an album on imgur that I have compiled of my hideout screenshots I hope you enjoy this post and if you have any questions about the hideout feel free to message me ingame. Also stop by if you want to check it out :) IGN:LethalNarwhal Edit: See if you can find the easter egg in the hideout :P Edit#2: The new Images are up YAYAYAYAY. Now all I need to do is get Zana to level 8 for a proper throne. Last edited by LethalNarwhal#7971 on May 2, 2015, 9:55:16 AM

<Edited by support> <- i didnt know that i cant insult my own self so i edit the post after the admin.
I dont want to be an hateful guy but it looks incomplete, i couldnt find the greats ideas that make an hideout unique, or the great surprises that make the hideout "alive". if the pitch is interresting, i only see dead corpses and weapons/blockades, you have rooms but they are almost empty! So a lot of "work" is needed to correct the dullness. Of course it's only my own feeling and some ppls could love it. But really, i think it's too soon for the hotw contest :O it's not a "competition" but... it lacks something ! I will never be good but always I try to improve. " I appreciate the feedback, but is it possible that you could provide an example that I can relate to? I find it somewhat hard to get that "something" into my hideout when I don't have an example, but that's just me. Last edited by LethalNarwhal#7971 on Apr 15, 2015, 3:17:50 PM

Sure of course! "something special" or a surprise, something unexpected or geninus, a good idea... when we see it, we think "oh man, it's cool" http://i.imgur.com/llaEVuI.jpg it's the waypoint of my hideout, it's not necessarly genius or beautifull, but it has it's own identity, it's not generic, and nobody else will have the same! here is the mapdevice of the "Thaumetic Winter" hideout, you can find it in the first page of the forum http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/34114423641092249/AC966C3CB511D7A51978B6D355885A1D3E141292/ Bendyboy says that this thing is a heat extraction machine and creates "ice" portals , it has a background, a lore. He has found an idea to use the map decive and the frozen portals, it's simple yet interresting. It's not needed to decorate the waypoint or the mapdevice, your tent with the dead soldier and it's pool of blood is exactly what i mean. You can build around an idea or a story and improve everything progressively and ALSO add some flavor, like a grain of pepper with something unexpected or genius or beautifull, it can be big or small, catch the eye or being almost unnoticeable but very funny... example in my hideout again: http://i.imgur.com/0pKkKYC.jpg we normally cannot see this lady, at the top right on the picture in the windows of the house, but when we find the right angle we notice her. It's unexpected, it's a surprise. In itself it's not funny or amazing, but it gives a "depth", someone is in the house, so the house becomes real, the house has an utility! The lady is hidden, because she is hidden she has something to hide : She is naked! Details and ideas give depth and immersion, without details an area is liveless and without ideas it's dull, you have the architecture of your hideout, with a lot of dead soldiers and some rooms! now it's time to add the "flavor" with details and ideas, the spice on the dish :), no tasteless food, a real meal! /walloftext End I will never be good but always I try to improve.
