Using 3rd Party FPS Limiter Makes Windowed Fullscreen Run Better

I have a pretty high end system I built myself, and the game runs perfectly smooth with maxed settings in Fullscreen, but Windowed Fullscreen was never quite as smooth. I had some kind of problem with V-Sync where if my FPS ever dropped below 60, it would immediately dip to 30 (No Triple Buffering in this game I guess).

So what I did was I turned V-Sync off (Which on it's on makes the game not look very smooth), and installed MSI Afterburner which I use anyway to force the fan speed on my GPU to 100%. You have to go into settings and make sure On-Screen Display is enable, and then another icon should appear in your taskbar, 'RivaTuner Statistics Server technology'. You click the little wrench and there will be a 'Framerate limit' where you can input whatever number you want the framerate to be capped at. I originally put in 60 which made more sense to me, but for some reason values between 61-63 ran the smoothest.

So with the all set up, it's essentially giving me V-Sync with no performance loss if I ever dip below 60 FPS. The game runs nice and smooth now on Windowed Fullscreen. I don't know how many other people have lesser performance in Windowed Fullscreen compared to Fullscreen, but I thought I'd post this on the off chance it could help even a few people. Just Google "MSI Afterburner", and it's the first thing that comes up. It's free and costs nothing.

Definitely give it a shot, see how it works out for you. It only takes a couple minutes to get it all set up and isn't very complicated.
Hey CK011885,

I had the same problem as you. My system is not the newest, but I think it's decent enough to run this game properly. With Window-Mode I always had fps drops from 60 to 30. Especially when I turned on a stream at the the second monitor, when I played. I set the framelimit to 62 fps and my fps varies between 55 - 63 with the highest settings. I think this is a good work aroud.

Thanks,

wow
If you have an nVidia card you can use nVidia Inspector to change some driver settings, nVidia has features like adaptive vsync and frame limiter built into the driver. Works great.

Did it work out for you? Thanks for the info Rheikon. Although I think it doesn't really matter which program you use to limit your fps. I'm doing fine with afterburner, I am using the overlay anyways.

Doesnt worked for me :(
Some games offer triple buffering or fps limiting.

I've never seen a game that had both options.

For smooth gameplay with vsync, you want both.
When i use VSync its smooth, but off, its gets unreal to play... And i run the OP idea.
