Content Update 2.1.0 Patch Notes

Amazing job all around ...!
I've seen my fair share of kneejerk nerfs in this game, but this one really takes the cake. If you want people to stop using a popular skill and try one of the underused spells instead why not just remove it from the game temporarily?

Also, why wasn't Ice Spear buffed? It's been total trash since 2.0.

Come on guys. You overnerfed Incinerate by a huge margin. I can see that it was too strong but taking away Spell Echo without a singe reason is nothing about balancing. It is just arbitrariness. 8% less damage at level 20. Alright. Only 50% More per Stage. Hurts a lot but okay, we can swallow that. But please GGG, give us at least Spell Echo back for Incinerate. It is a must have! You should see that too...

Greetings Boomstick
Agreed. I rolled a new witch a few days back. A life-armor-based incinerator - using Spell Echo of course (linked with GMP, Fire Penetration & Increased Burning Damage). Level 66 when 2.1 came on-line. Now it's nerfed to an extent that I'll either just trash it or try to re-allocate some passives to make up for it.

Faster Casting still works with it, but it's not nearly as effective as Spell Echo, and the reduction to only a 50% increase per stage..........well I lost quite a bit of DPS. Guess I'll see how it goes, but so far not too happy about that particular change.

Nobody in is right mind can say that is for "balancing purpose" what they've done to incinerate. Killing incinerate is not about balance it's all about monney. GGG you want monney? Respect us and just say it outloud and stop hiding behind: "you asked for this nerf".

They need to kill item and skill so you have to play more / need more stash / want effect (for "the next skill to be kill") and skin for your new gear.

I too am going to have a bitch about the Incinerate nerf.

So I'm thinking that, for the first time since I stated playing this game seriously I'm not going to spend any hard-found money on a Supporters Pack this time around. I do like the game but am sick of having to completely scrap builds and start from scratch every few months. If Incinerate had been nerfed maybe 30% I'd likely carry on while trying out options but, with a 50% nerf I can't even do my dailies.

You don't 'balance' anything with a sledgehammer - You destroy it.

+1

Now I just dream if was possible to buy this game on DVD with option to be play it only in OFFline mode without to worry any more for skills and tree "balancing", nerfs and so.
Glad to see Incinerate being nerfed. Be honest: Incinerate was way to strong, dont understand why ppl cry about it
Just remove standard league from the game.
What's the point gathering ex,crafting gear if it has a 50% chance each patch it will no longer work so the time and money invested go down the drain?
Make poe temp league only so it can be played by people who like to constantly get their builds destroyed and reach 30-40% of the builds potential gear wise each season.
No point crafting-buying 100 ex items in this game anymore.
No point gearing characters with 20+ ex rings.
And i will not speak at all for poor mirrored items that have no build to be played by.

It cracks me up that people are so quick to say others are "crying" about something. No one is crying as the complaint is legitimate.

Yes, incinerate was OP, but a 50% nerf and taking away Spell Echo on top of it is a bit much. When changes are so drastic that one has to scrap a build after putting a lot of time, thought, and effort into it, then something is wrong.

Obviously "balancing" is not one of GGGs strong suits. They are more like a pendulum - one extreme to the other, yet never settling on a stable equilibrium. I'd prefer it if they started by making a skill moderate, then increasing effectiveness as needed. By making the skills OP when introduced, one finds the character they thought was strong is suddenly useless (or severely hindered) when the next patch is rolled out.

I enjoy the game but sometimes I wonder what goes through the devs' minds.
