Molten Shell - The build

I'm working on a PvE variant (wha!? y u no pvp?) that doesnt use Zerphi's at all. So far its pretty neat. At the very least, I have been doing practical tests of phys armor + endurance charges/phys reduction methods.


With 27k armor, 5 endurance charges, chaos golem, and 4% phys reduction from skill tree, molten shell explodes every time. With Endurance Charges up, I do not require any flasks to activate molten shell.

Why Elementalist?
Proliferate, 25% fire pen, AoE, status ailments.

-Also tried on marauder (Juggernaut) - great for reaching max endurance charges, doesnt require Determination aura, may be a viable option for someone who wants to pvp without a zerphi's



Lastly, regarding the math you have with armor, I tested out 52k armor + the 4% phys reduction node on the skill tree and that provides 85% physical reduction. With 1 Endurance charge I am exploding a level 20 Molten shell every cast

With 1.3.0, damage scaling has changed. It has been split into two algorithms -- one for physical damage and chaos damage, and one for elemental. In low-level play, damage is reduced by about 20% for physical skills, but is increased for elemental damage to compensate for assumed resistances. In high-level play, the damage reduction is much sharper.

In both tiers, the ability to one-shot your opponent is now very difficult. This, in combination with changes to the Acrobatics keystone and block values on items and the tree, means that total damage mitigation is a helpful, if unpredictable, bonus, rather than a game-winning factor. Game lengths have increased to be more satisfying and to give opportunities for moment-to-moment tactical decisions rather than crossing your fingers and hoping your opponent doesn't land a lucky crit.

Try something else, its not nice enough of a meme, it got compensated well enough, doubled numbers. Some AoE bonuses didn't get any, double the number is still a lucky one.

Base trigger radius is 10 units
  with old 220% trap trigger radius = 32 units
  with new 210% trap trigger area from tree + 5 Hair Trigger (60%) = 24.7 (25?) units

it still within cluster trap spread area, nothing changed.

Problem: impostor syndrome

Result: depressing mess

Get 30% mana gain through praxis rings, drop BM, get more mana and mana regen.

Have you guys not seen the drastic difference between before & after?

With 11 updated jewels, the trigger radius is about half of what it used to be.
