Field of Dreams: If You Post It, They Will Come (with pitchforks)

for Rup's #3, he can speak for himself; I came to pvp because I wanted to see if my build worked well enough that it could take on other players. Spoiler, it didn't. But I built my then other character, rlowe, into pvp. So there you go.

But my initial apprehension to joining pvp was based on my previous experiences with pvp communities in various other games: those communities were just cesspools of rude, I'm-better-than-you, shitheadedness that you'd expect. Think of me however you want, but I generally avoid that kind of thing, like any sane, non-competitive person would. There's also the notion that you have to be rich to pvp, which has been proven, by myself and others, as patently untrue. People just don't know that good gear isn't always an effective substitute for skill.

Now the reason I stayed in pvp and went on to be undoubtedly the best player ever and was unanimously voted to be president of pvp in an election that never happened, was because I found my niche as the cold res check, and because the community here isn't anywhere near as bad as others. But I mostly pvp because no matter what, it's where I belong, and I wouldn't play PoE without it. Problem is, our community is certainly small, but the biggest reason for that is GGG sweeping us and pvp under the rug. It's a vicious cycle, really. GGG won't fix pvp unless there's lots of people in it, but people won't play it if it isn't fun or balanced. It's on us to create a friendly environment, but it's on GGG to fix the problem they started, which was due to negligence.

I don't know how we can expand the pvp community, other than it being fixed, then promoting it however we can. But pvp needs to be fun and fair first.

Don't you get it yet? It's because people pick the broken shit to play that no one wants to PvP. Go change your glove enchant from Winter to something else. Put your Zerphi's back up your ass right next to your Scolds. Drop 3-4 of your Cwdt set ups and actually use your weapon for damage and not a stat stick. Don't build to stand still while people hit you while you master bate. Don't whore blatant AoE overlap and lastly don't go on the forums asking ...why? Why why why oh why is PvP shit?

I'm genuinely surprised you haven't noticed the game they're playing. They specifically want you to say they're op, they've started mentally substituting op with good at pvp. They are literally edging themselves waiting for your post so they can finally climax.

Other than the winter thing, I have to agree. I'm sticking to Winter for reasons that should be fairly obvious if you haven't suffered some sort of head injury.

This entire situation is equivalent to the "choking warnings" on toys.

As a parent you hope you've raised your kid well enough to not be another statistic. That they aren't dumb enough to choke on a pair of lego arms and such.

GGG provided you toys, you guys just keep on choking. No responsibility for your own actions either, simply it's GGG's fault that you were stupid enough to choke on the shit in the first place. It's up to them to fix it for you, instead of you just simply....not failing at it in the first place. Also people join Leo dailies already assuming PvP is shit and put forth -100% effort. Automatically thinking they'll just get 1 shot or lamed. If they knew/saw that wasn't the case they'd maybe try.

That's all there is to it, It's really that simple.

I'd actually liken it to a sink full of dishes that need to be cleaned. It's fine if you leave a couple small ones here and there, but you let it get out of hand, you're never gonna want to do them all, whether it's all at once or bit by bit. GGG let a few things slip, but now the issues have just piled up and it's all one big mess.

And now we're all stabbing each other with food-encrusted knives.... and the pathfinders are drinking all the dirty sink water.
