Duelist Claws/Dagger

I know, there some threads talking about, but every single one get to Dual Swords discussion, I want to make a pure Claws/Dagger Duelist, I asked some opinions but didnt help, a lot of ideas.

Someone that is actly using a Duelist with Dual Wielding Claws/Dagger can help me understanding the best passives for it?

Was thinking of running something like this, and making a claw/dagger build. Will let you know how it goes, early days yet...and it doesn't seem to come into it's own until later on.

Also, do one handed passives increase claw damage?

Just from looking at the tree my impression is that Rangers seem to be a bit better situated to make use of these weapons right now than a Duelist would be. Why don't you give that a try instead?

Just a quick theorycraft (EDIT 3: and some additional min/maxing) came up with this. You have the 102 int for the best claws already built into the build, and a lot more of the stronger capstones without spending too many dead points (accuracy, base stats, etc.)

No frenzy bonuses in this version but you could respec for them without too much trouble if you wanted to. (EDIT 3: Updated version is now specced for frenzy.)

EDIT: So further consideration leads me to something along the lines of this in response to your actual request. It's certainly doable, but highly glass cannon slanted. Might consider going movement speed instead of attack speed in the 'trinity' section 2 o'clock from your starting position if you're not super good with the positioning.

EDIT 2: Been quietly tinkering with it a bit since posting the duelist build. The one currently linked above is probably fairly close to optimal.

EDIT 3: Worked on the ranger build as well for comparison's sake. Now does include fury spec.

Duelist actually comes out looking fairly strong on damage due to the Water Dancing capstone and the path leading up to it. It is, however, the more fragile of the two overall.

EDIT 4: Found POEZONE. No longer have to second guess my math. This is a good thing.

So actually playing the game has taught me three things in regards to this build.

- Stat requirements are, at least as the game currently stands, not that big a deal at all. You can make up for any deficiencies up to and including being 40 or more points short on INT through items. Somewhat unfortunately for any claw enthusiast, Strength is really the only stat worth building for its own sake.

- The 'Soul Raker' claw cluster is a lot lower value than it might appeear to be (certainly seemed good to me) because life leech sustain is not terribly hard to come by and health regen is comparably strong when it comes to passives.

- Dual wielding is seriously outclassed by two handed weapons on the whole. If you're using a one hander you honestly may as well grab a shield for the extra defense. Defense matters a lot as you progress.

With that in mind I'd probably suggest something a bit more like this for a claw duelist. Still has good damage, but a bit more defensively focused. And uses a shield.

In game you rely mostly on flicker strike to kill stuff. I've been testing out lightning strike because it's AOE clear but in order to have it do an useful damage at this point it is extremely mana hungry (and I haven't found a mana leech gem yet on any of my characters).
you won't be able to use 100+ points in the beta, most builds cap around 76 I think.

I wanted to do a dagger/claw build with a duelist or ranger. Wasn't quite sure on 1h/shield or dual weild, but I can tell you right now it's not really viable. Neither weapon has an AEO skill. I currently have a lvl 19 dagger ranger, and the killing is slow going, which means you take more damage. It will only get worse as you go higher as well, having to single target stuff at lvl 50+ won't be fun. :(


Hopefully when they release the dex/int class they'll also drop a skill gem or two that will grant daggers/claws some aoe damage.
