[3.0] Wand’s Guide to Wanding – Comprehensive Overview of Wanders

Now that Harbinger league is coming to an end, I wanted to try and get some help with improvements to my first wander.

I caved into buying an imbued wand a few days ago and wasn't sure what to change when going from Piscators to Imbued.


This is the path of building pastebin for my current gear set-up (I turned on enemies are shocked):

Some bosses (especially Gorge boss in t13) feel real difficult to kill even though the PoB dps shows 2m+.
Not a single clue why I feel so weak.

Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Thats 2m dps on WHITE MOBS with SHOCK, you can't shock with elemental focus and even if you could it would be a really low % dmg bonus, not even close to 50% that PoB applies, change that and we're down to 958k dps, remove frenzy charges 767k (pathfinder cant sustain frenzy unless vaal breach or fast boss kill), for power charges you need to shatter enemies or weapon swap, drop that and you're at 660k, that's using all flasks though, with no flasks/charges your dps on MAP BOSSES is 230k~, and 958k at best with power/frenzy charges + all flasks, should be enough to burst bosses quickly assuming they don't have +hp/+resistance/-crit dmg taken mods(cripple ur dmg by a lot)

Acuity cluster is bad for damage, inspired learning won't do anything vs bosses most of the time, also you're pathfinder but not using Conqueror's Potency for the +1 projectile

I get the shock point; I don't understand the "not being able to sustain frenzy" point since I seem to have frenzy charges ALL the time in maps.
I'm new to using a wander and was wondering where the lightning damage comes from if the gems Barrage/Kinetic Blast doesn't show lightning damage?

Also in a 4L Barrage setup, should I use Lightning Penetration or Elemental Focus as the 4th gem?

From all the flat added lightning from rings/ammy/gloves/boots/WAND as well as the added lightning gem and Wrath aura.

As for a 4l barrage, during storyline leveling and low maps, Ele Focus.....but for map bosses I would say Lightning Pen will serve you better.

However, looking at your 2 Harb characters.....you should be able to afford a cheap corrupted 6l chest with the correct colors :D

(My uncorrupted rare 6l chest pre-colored, only cost me 60c!)

Thanks for your reply. So it's not the skills Kinetic Blast/Barrage that does the lightning damage, but rather having lightning damage on gear and gems? If so, then would it also work with cold damage instead of lightning damage?

You can play around on PoB for a cold wander but i guess lightning is just better, Wrath is great and easy to scale on tree, Hatred scales from phys%

Also i guess you'd want raider instead and go added cold/ice bite etc
This is only my 2nd wander I've played....but I would think that lightning gives the highest damage potential. However, having flat cold/fire on gear and WAND is a good thing.

I see. Why is it better to go with raider for cold damage? Is it because damage is lower with cold damage so we need raider to boost damage?

Raider scales Ice Bite a lot better, 15-23 cold damage per Frenzy charge at level 20 gem, there's also Essence of Horror that gives "Ring: Adds 4 to 7 Cold Damage per Frenzy Charge", fire/cold should be more CONSISTENT as the average damage is better, but lightning should scale easier/better and have better potential max damage
