Constant high latency - Australia gateway
Hello
I'm experiencing constant high latency and am trying to work if I should contact my internet provider or whether it is something else. I'm usually around 60-65ms but am now at 216-217ms on the Australia gateway. All of the other gateways are high (150ms or more) for me too. It's barely playable and very frustrating. The latency is constant too and not spiking up and down. Here is my WinMTR report: https://pastebin.com/j8Kf8rAS My connection is Wifi. What I've tried so far: (1) - Closed all other programs on my computer (2) - No other devices in my house are being used (3) - I'm close to my router (less than 5 metres away) (4) - I've checked the wires/plug of my router and wall box (5) - I've turned off my router, waited and then turned it back on (6) - I've run the common speedtest tool/website (even though you've stated it's not that useful) and it had ping=15ms, download=28.75Mbps and upload=9.61Mbps (7) - I've asked other players on the Australia gateway and they are fine (8) - I've tried using my internet for other things, like Youtube, and it's fine (9) - I haven't tried PoE on another device as I've only got the one laptop (other devices are tablets/phones) The problem is recent too. It was fine on Dec 18. I went away on holiday and came back yesterday (Dec 23). Tried to play PoE and had this high latency problem. What else can I try or should I contact my internet provider? The problem is at ae0.bbr02.nd01.mel02.networklayer.com, which is owned by NetworkLayer. Sadly, that is neither your ISP, or GGG.
Your best bet is to touch base with both, and hope they can forward the problem appropriately: email GGG technical support, and your ISP tech support, and include than WinMTR trace as evidence of the problem. Ask them if they can get in touch with NetworkLayer and work to sort out the problem. |

Exactly the same here in New Zealand.
Been at 50'ish for years and now BAM 200+ every single day, suck bad :( California is 125'ish so im logging in thru them now... KKNZ |

" I have the exact same issues, I was sitting at 60-70ms since beginning of playing this four years ago, but started on around the 19th-20th of Dec this year 2017, Latency is now unplayable at 250+ms with huge lag spikes. I'm having to play on Cali gateway (US) and it's still pretty poor at about 200ms. I have my own thread on this but here is my pastebin of WinMTR https://pastebin.com/drdXFm5g. Hope this can be resolved. |

This might cause the issue : http://subtelforum.com/sea-me-we-3-cut/
Im going through the singapore gateway, normaly i sit at 60-80 now im at 125/150. The cut wont be fixed until jan 9. |

" When you say the exact same, do you mean that you did the same network testing and found the same router was the problem, or do you just mean "I got latency too" If the second, follow https://pingplotter.com/fix-my-network to track down if this is a network problem, and where it is, and start a separate thread about it. Ditto the rest of you. (Though that cable cut is worth considering: if this is a stable latency increase, it raises the odds it is a suboptimal route because someone gave the gift of overtime to cable fixing boats for Christmas.) |

It does give a sub optimal route, i'm being routed through the US until the 9th. This is why most of you probably also sit around 125/150 to the US. This issue obviously doesn't affect POE only, for me it affects all my games.

Thanks SlippyCheeze and others for helping.
Just to give a status update - the high latency still hasn't resolved. My plan is to just wait and see as a few of you are pointing out it's probably not a ISP or GGG issue and so there isn't much that can be done. Thanks again |

Been getting this since before christmas. I hope it's just going to go away on its own. Is a cable outage between singapore and perth that likely to be the cause of a massive latency jump between nz and aus? I thought there was a direct route Last edited by Dicey#1076 on Dec 29, 2017, 9:35:57 AM
