Hi Kay, great job with guide! Pretty amazing this has reach past 1,000 pages and the attention to details is simply staggering.

Would like to ask more experienced players here, how would this build hold up against A8 Sirus in Day 2/Day 3 league start conditions without heavy investment in the cluster jewels.

I had pretty rough experience with Slave Driver dying quickly to the beams, which is a problem since we can't resummon them in the arena. Redemption sentries has higher HP but not sure how much it translate to survivability without renewal CJ.

Should be fine. The spectre power is all in passive tree and gems. If you take out cluster jewels, most of cost is just the 6L body armour, then +1 int amulet (and RS21 if you can't get good corruption).

Some people have no problem with SD, but I think survivability is a little low. You can swap spectres just for doing Sirus. Scale of Esh is tankier and does more boss damage (but are slow for mapping). They use all the same gems. Keep SoE in a spectre bank.

@Crafterlynx1 did Sirus A8 early in league with SoE: https://youtu.be/TWFHeoAohbs

Another good spell spectr is old school Solar Guard. They do good damage and are tanky. Almost all gems are the same! Just need to swap arma brand -> storm brand for EE. And Wrath -> Zealotry. They're good for mapping, but need a white socket to swap GMP.

3.9 SG (so no cluster) vs Sirus A8: https://youtu.be/VmsatHljnzg

I haven't tested Redemption Knight or Sentry without cluster, though. So not 100% sure about them, but I think will be OK too!

Could be interesting. What would you use for Consecrated Ground source? Crusader chest with while stationary mod?

Holy Flame Totem ^^

I'm totally in love with it. remove curse, conc ground, rapid hit (frenzy charge generator), pulls agro, proc EE for light & cold, large hit area.

I always use Blind aura for AG chest. I think it helps the most for survivability. I know some people prefer Garb (enemy cannot deal crit) but it's better to not get hit at all.

I love your guide. I have one question

Which spectre would be best for mapping and bossing without gem swapping?

I'm considering Necro or some melee guy for next league

Do you mean Endgame bossing? Map bosses can do without swapping.

Only SD and SoE can do all content without any gem swapping.

The 4 usable types of spectres:

1. aoe spell (Slave Driver, Scale of Esh) - same one spell does big damage and hits a large area
2. projectile spell (Solar Guard, etc) - usually shoots 1 projectile*, so need GMP for mapping
3. projectile attack (Redemption Sentry) - same problem as projectile spell
4. melee attack (Redemptiion Knight, Enhanced Vaal Fallen) - spectre cannot break multistrike lock, so you can't use multistrike for mapping (use melee splash)

Some spectre has a mix of abilities. It might have good projectile spell, but aoe spell is on a long cooldown, so you still need GMP (Scinteel).

*Some spectres shoot multi projectiles, but the damage is usually low, so endgame bossing feel terrible. I tried Frost Sentinel vs Sirus. The fight took a very long time.

Also not sure if on kill effects trigger on minion kills. Pretty sure they don't

There's a special trick in my Spectres & Spiders build. I use Speaker's Wreath to block minion hit for killing blow. So spider's poison gets killing blow. Poison kill counts as player kill, so you get on kill effects (eg. life recovery on kill).

Actually, you can use S&S build with no gem swap as well!

When I update S&S for 3.11 I will add some notes for 100% no swap mapping and bossing, as well as specialist mapper.

Thank you so much kay, the more I look at your guide the more I want to play Spectremancer!
Act 2 shows that you need 1 BBB and 1 BBR, but then you are actually needing 2 BBR.

"
"Needed links:
1x BBB
1x BBR
1x BB

link:
skitterbots + infernal legion
holy flame totem + phatasms + minion damage
summon raging spirits + mininon damage + melee physical damage"

Should be:

2x BBR
1x BB

Are the end of act required gems updated for 1-4 too? Seems like there are some inconsistencies.

Edit: Detailed Guide for Spectre Banking

Spectre Banking (storing)/Withdrawing (taking out)

Note: You cannot bank spectres across different leagues.

How to create a "Spectre Bank" (Bank Char)?

Note: This Bank Char can only hold 3 spectres.

Step 1. Select any character that can buy lvl 1 raise spectre, lvl 1 desecrate, and socket into a Queen's Decree (2 sockets 1B 1G).

Step 2. Put the Queen's Decree with socketed gems in your stash. Exit to Character Select.

Step 3. Create a "PVP only" "Fresh Level 28" Witch for your Spectre Bank (Bank Char) in the same league as the character you will use the spectres (Main Char). The Bank Char will be level 28 and spawn in your Hideout.

Step 4. On the Bank Char, open the passive tree and path to Death Attunement, Might, Practical Application, and Agility (passives allow for +1 spectres and able to equip Queen's Decree for additional +1 spectres).

Step 5. Equip Queen's Decree with raise spectre and desecrate. Exit to Character Select.

You now have a Bank Char that can store up to 3 spectres. If you want more than 3 spectres, then create additional Bank Chars for additional spectres.

How to bank (store) spectres?

Note: You do not need to try to get all 3 spectres at once; You can bank one at a time as you find the ones you want to bank.

Step 1. Select Main Character (Main). Go to the location of the spectre you want to bank and raise it (e.g., Control Blocks for Slave Driver, Veritania influenced map for Redemtion Knight/Sentries).
Note: You can visit multiple areas and collect different spectres at one time before going to Step 2.

Step 2. Return to Hideout. (Optional [see note below] - open a map.) Exit to Character Select.
Note:Casting desecrate does not appear necessary, but you can cast it to double check that the corpse you want will appear.
In testing in SSFHC, I did not require opening a map to withdraw spectres, however, if you are having problems, then open a map to prevent the hideout instance from resetting (resetting corpses).

Step 3. Select Spectre Bank (Bank Char). Use desecrate in hideout. Find the corpse of the spectre you want to bank and use raise spectre on it.

Now your Bank Char will have the spectre raised and stored (DO NOT REMOVE THE GEM OR UNEQUIP THE SWORD OR WEAPON SWAP! If you do, then cast desecrate again and re-raise your spectres).

Repeat for any additional spectres types you want and make additional Bank Chars as required for more than 3 spectres.

How to withdraw (take out) spectres?

Step 1. OPTIONAL STEP - This step may not be required; I have not tested trade league. Select Main Character (Main), open a map in hideout. Exit to Character Select.

Step 2. Select Spectre Bank (Bank Char), go to Hideout. Exit to Character Select.
Note: It does not appear that you even need to cast desecrate in hideout in order to update the corpses in it. You can cast it to double check that the corpse you want will appear.

Step 3. Select Main. Go to Hideout. Take off any items or jewels that may cause corpses to be automatically consumed (e.g., Devouring Diadem, Kitava's Teaching, Trigger Socketed Spell linked to a corpse consumption skill).

Step 4. Cast desecrate. Find spectres you want to raise from corpses and raise them.

Hey Kay, quick question for you...

How are Scinteel spectres for mapping and bossing? I played this build most of 3.10 with redemption sentries and I'm looking into trying a different spectre in 3.11. I've seen some other build guides mention them, one person even said they are the "best" spectre in the game, so I'm curious what your opinion on them is.

If they are indeed a great spectre to use, do you have any plans on adding them to your amazing forum guide?

Thanks again!

You were talking about putting the shield on the Animated Guardian, weren't you?

Wouldn't that mean that the source of Consecrated Ground also must be from the AG since he (presumably) only affects his own Consecrated Ground?

Hmmmmmmmmm.

The body armour conc ground mod just procs the ground effect. I tested it with AG and body armour with conc ground it just procs when AG is standing still. So I think it will be the same but different mod name and effect. Bex said "create Profane Ground instead of Consecrated Ground".

In the game, mapping is OK (all spectres are OK actually), but boss killing DPS feels terrible. So if you check poedb the DPS is also low. Here is stats compared to RVA. Both level 82.

Scinteel.
SynthesisSoulstealerProjectileLightning
Deals 847.7 to 2543 Lightning Damage
Cast Time: 1.33 Second
(max dps = 2543 / 1.33 = 1912)

Risen Vaal Advocate:
FireballIncusionLightning
Deals 941 to 2823 Lightning Damage
Cast Time: 1.2 Second
(max dps = 2823 / 1.2 = 2352)

RVA has shorter cast time, more damage. Also it is lightning converted fireball, so you can use Conc Effect (54% more). Scinteel is just 'projectile'.

Scinteel has the laser beam that does a big aoe damage, but the cast time and cooldown is so long. Not reliable it for mapping.

GeometrySpell
SynthesisSoulstealerLaser
Deals 516.2 to 1549 Lightning Damage

Cast Time: 2.5 Second
Cooldown Time: 8 Second

Overall, both spectres need GMP for mapping. RVA has more DPS (1912 vs 2352). Scinteel is tankier 500% life + 200% ES vs 405% life. RVA is much easier to get (temple/delve + permmanent corpse vs memory map + 2s despawn corpse).

I have them saved in my spectre bank in league. If you see me online, you can try them yourself.

Other spectres:

Slave Driver
Flamewhip
Deals 1461 to 4384 Lightning Damage
Cast Time: 1.43
Max dps = 3065

Solar Guard
Fireball
Deals 1574 to 2437 Fire Damage
Cast Time: 0.85
Max dps = 2867

Cannibal Fire-Eater
Fire totem
Deals 702.5 to 1054 Fire Damage
Cast Time: 0.333
Max dps = 3165

Scale of Esh
Arc
Deals 1249 to 2320 Lightning Damage
Cast Time: 0.5
Max dps = 4640

EDIT: My original post has wrong info for RS. Please ignore it. The base DPS is about 3500 in POB (but could be actually 5000).
Redemption Sentry
Default attack
1913.5 25% phys / 75% cold
Attack Time: 1.5
DPS = 1275

RS has low base DPSRS damage scales really well because Hatred aura has 25% phys -> cold & 18% more. And it is easy to abuse with clusters.

Lightning spectres are OK because Wrath has 21% more damage. Can abuse with clusters.

Fire spectres don't scale high like cold or lightning because Anger aura is terrible (140 flat damage). 140 flat is only 5% of SG's fireball. Zealotry is not bad 15% more, but can't abuse clusters.

I made a fire spectre version of my build. It's not as powerful as other spectres because you can't abuse aura stacking, so I stacked double damage chance to 90%. Just import my league main to check it out.
