Overheating GPU (workarounds, patches, fixes ?)
Until the game is optimized fully, I would say the best ( though not ideal ) solution would be forcing the max FPS to a static 60 ( through afterburner or something ) . I realize it kinda sucks as a solution, but it is better that than having heat issues.
You have my sympathy sir. I'm glad it isn't an issue on any of my machines. "I would have listened... I would have understood!" - Scion
Have you removed Asus ROG/GameFirst yet? |

Just to let others know, I was having a similar issue where either my gpu/cpu was overheating after 10 - 15 mins of play and my computer would auto shut off. The bottom side of my laptop would be scorching hot to the touch.
Enabling Vsync in game didn't work. Instead, using the Riva Tuner frame limiter in MSI Afterburner seemed to solve the issue completely. The fans on the laptop now run normal speed in game, the bottom feels warm but not scorching hot and I was able to play for 3 - 4 hours without a hitch. Previously this hadn't been an issue of mine until the latest patch came out. Last edited by D34mst3r#2319 on Mar 23, 2013, 6:43:50 PM

Never heard my PC so loud and I have been playing games since Comodore64. I feel like its going to blow up. Couple this with the fact that I am now being ignored in my attempt to get my tab purchase on the right account. (I purchased it while my sons account (which he doesn't play) was logged in on this site. So it went to his account...I have sent a surpluss of information to clarify both accounts, each time asking for a little more. They want me now to log in to my sons email and email them. That's when I became pissed. I have already gave his login info, character names along with mine. IP address, credit card info, confirmed it has been deducted from my account, time of purchase, etc. My son does not live with me, he's currently on vacation with his mom in hawaii and I'm not going to ask for his email password..are you kidding me? He has the right to his privacy, and while I could harass him and have him do it from his phone on his vacation. I won't do it out of principle and common sense.
The last email I recieved last night, was that they were transfering me to another ggg employee and it would be resolved shortly. I have sent 3 emails since, no response. Hope that 20 bucks was worth losing future monies and a loyal fan, because your rep for me has plummeted to the lowest possible level. Customer service is everything and this company has failed big time. And save it fanboys, I don't want or care for your raw raw pom pom butkissing. I have more than paid for what I have recieved from this "FREE GAME" P.S. You're delusional if you don't think they are making a killing off you people. This game is still in ghetto stages, its not money they need its brains. |

mine overheats like crazy running this game as well. the fans in my comp sound like a jet engine ready for takeoff after a few minutes of playing. i'd like to run this particle effect mod too since it seems that is currently the best solution but i've invested a decent chunk of money into my account already and dont want to get banned. i run a 2 gb nvidia nvidia gforce gtx 560 ti. temperatures regularly going over 80 C while playing the game. vsync is enabled at 60 fps.

First time I launched the game, I got as far as the character creation screen, and then my computer (or video card) auto shut off and then I couldn't get the system back on for a good 10 minutes. I thought the game broke my system but I see now it just overheated it. I would love to play this game but not if it's going to fry my system... I'm deleting it off the hard drive now. Too bad, I understand it's a small development team but something has to give.

turn on vsync and it should not over-perform. it also shouldn't overheat either unless you have very bad cooling.

" Some ppl have reading problems, turning vsync helps "shit", it will help you get some frames down from 300 to 120 but the overheating problem is still here, so advices like "turn vsync on" keep for you'r self pls,the problem is in the game engine GGG fucked up on this field, only way to play for some time is to limit the frames by some 3-rd program like Bandicam or Fraps or other frame limiters. " Whoa there, slow down Mr. Engineer, my mind is blowing up from the sheer complexity of your multitude of sound technical suggestions! |

" That was exactly the point of my suggesting to turn vsync on. I wanted to get them down from 300FPS down to 75 or 60 fps (like most monitors have) If you have a 120Hz monitor, then your FPS would be reduced to 120... sure. But my suggestion was a real suggestion that can help the situation. It might solve it, it might not. It completely depends on the user's setup. Limiting the frames using a 3rd party utility is also another option. Turning on vsync is easier. *shrug* |

If your GPU goes in throttle mode, that means basicly your cooling of your GPU fails. So rmeove the dust, or go back to the manufacturer of your GPU.
I can blow away 300 FPS as long I want, my cooling will not let the temp raise above 65 degrees. I say hardware/dust/cooling issue, and that is also based on my 10+ years experience in hardware and overclocking. IGN: DoNotDelete
