0.10.3c Patch Notes

I agree with the complaints about the name on the loot. It's hard to tell what belongs to who in a party with friends. Hopefully, a party loot option will be implemented into the game. I feel that would cater to both sides of the matter. Just my two cents!

Everything is fine except the name of the loot.
Well, after playing last night with this new addition, and having a long convo about it with my friend we concluded it is a good thing for this game. It's a bit of a hassle when we party with friends, 'cause then we must find out by process of elimination who's item is it, but we mostly stick together (merciless) so it's obvious for whom it dropped in 90% of the cases.

On one side, the entitlement factor is greatly deminished, it not 'mine' anymore, I see an item, I want it, I pick it up, and that's that. And on the other side the timer is VERY NOTICEABLY longer so it makes my first point viable. If I can see it, and it's for me, i have ZERO problems now to get to it and pick it up.

Monster dropped a GCP for me tonight and I was quite far away, so I ran to it and in the meantime 3 guys were already spamming the clicks on it (lol), and my char just circled around them and picked it up. No sweat. Plenty of time.

Both me and my friend play ranged. We play solo, with eachother and in pubs.

Verdict is as follows:
Patch is overall good. No entitlement, more time. A bit of a hassle when playing with friends, but gentlemans code is not lost, just asks for more communication.
Say no to Shabby Jerkin.

I personally have only one problem with the changes that can be addressed without modifying their goal and concept:

I usually play in map parties with the preset rule of "loot to name". I understand the reasoning behind removing the name from the drop, and its cool. However, in the heat of the moment you don't realize that an item has dropped FOR YOU like you did pre-patch, when there was a big shiny box signaling it. There have been situations in my group when there was an item sitting on the ground with no one having a clue who's it dropped for. I understand that the loot is supposed to be 'for the party as a whole', but some people like to organize the looting from their own point of view of 'fairness'.

So here's what I suggest:
While the loot is 'on timer' for you, make it more shiny, brighter, pink with stripes and dots, or whatever. This way I can know for sure that an item dropped for me, and the other guys will remember not dropping it when it changes to the normal texture after 'the timer'.

I don't think this would mess with what GGG tried to accomplish with this patch. People will still ninja, melee will have the upper hand, the items will be as clickable as before. The only difference is made for people like me who play in non-ninja parties, and I bet we'd all be extremely grateful.

in public groups no name is GREAT - no more "u took my orb" BS.

In small, friend map groups - this is terrible idea to remove names. Yesterday's friends are stealing each other's items/orbs left and right... including uniques.

If you are ranged or weak - you are screwed even more than before. Before you could argue that it was your drop (pointlessly), but now at least it is easier since you dont see most of your drops anyhow - if you are ranged....

GIVE PLAYERS PARTY LOOT OPTIONS.

There is not going to be "one solution fits all"
My recommendation: Do that after the player pick up the item, they(the item) have what belonged player name. So who pick the item to know whose it was. If it wants can give it back. When you get out of the party that item will not have the name on it. Sorry for my English. I hope you have understood what I meant.

Totally agree!

Overall the new patch is pretty bad since I'm playing just with friends and we all kill from distance. Now in many cases we have no idea which items belong to who cause the names were removed. This forces to be close to the mobs which kinda sucks when you die because of that!

suggestions:

1. Show the player names under item names as it was before!

2. It would be even better if the names woudn't disappear at all => so you could concentrate on fighting in the first place instead of watching the drops and dying

I'm hating this to be honest, it's slowing my group down.If we're split up at all from where an item drops we have no idea who it belongs to. The only one who can know is the owner themself. Reliant on even more trust and good faith now than it was before. Which is okay for groups that consistently play together. But I have 2 or 3 friends and we fill the rest of our team with other players, who generally can't be trusted too much.

When I initially read the notes I thought names were sticking around for things that there were still timers for, which made sense, and did reduce the clutter, although still minimally. Having magic items be FFA definitely was a good idea.

I suggest/want:
Names back for Rares/Uniques/Maps/Currencies
Keep magics FFA
Keep Scrolls and lower level currencies(transmutations, augmentations, scraps, whetstones, baubles, chromatics) how they are right now, so there's still time to grab yours if you're looking out for it, but they're not doing any harm to the item flood.

Just this.

Just like when we choose for PvP or not, we should be able to choose for PvP-loot or not.
