Problem with supposedly new dishwasher

Anyway, it does not work. Fills up with water that is hot. But dishes never get clean. Also cycle takes forever and a day. Stuff just doesn't get clean and water never even gets to the top rack. I put a paper towel up there and it came out dry! Water pressure in the house is fine.

Check the shut-off valve to the dishwasher supply line, and make sure it's opened up all the way. This is a common noobie mistake that some people make when they change out a dishwasher, they forget to open up the shut off all the way. Newer shut-offs are quarter turn to open/close. Older ones require several turns of the handle. People sometimes confuse these.

Or, the water supply line might be kinked. It could be copper (if it's old), or flexible hose. The only way to know for sure is to pull the dishwater out, should be 2 screws mounting it to the counter right near the top. This can happen when people use a hose that's too long, and they push the dishwasher back in (force it).

I work as a maintenance tech, and the most common issues with dishwashers are user error, like 95% of the time. The other 5% is a dishwasher leaking, because a seal wore out and needs to be replaced.

Dishwashers are piss easy to replace.
