"Awesome escandil! I'm glad you're having such a great time! I'd normally prefer to start with the main skill and its supports. But if you have the Vaal version of RF, you can't change the quality. But the supports for sure. Some of the gems' quality won't help us at all (like increasing aura size.) But I'd go with your damage supports first. (If you haven't yet, maybe start levelling some RF gems in your second weapon set. Get them to level 20, trade them in with a Gem Cutter Prism for a 20% level version of the gem, then start levelling them to 20 again (it takes forever). As far as I see it, since our Ball Lightning is on CwDT 1 it's getting cast constantly and much more often than the other spells so you're constantly tagging mobs with Lightning damage.

I believe the idea behind the cast when damage taken fire skills is that they will apply a debuff before being overwritten on EE by ball lightning. If you are worried that you wont be getting EE properly triggered enough you can also pick up an added cold or lightning damage (not spell damage) to a piece of gear for your melee skill of choice. For instance I have a ring with low added cold damage so I can trigger EE with Shield Charge, or Cyclone if I ever manage to replace my wand with a good scepter.

"Hey Xylezzz! With the exception to the bonus damage, the boots don't offer any other benefits (like life). But honestly, I don't know if the boots would increase our damage. We don't Ignite enemies; we go straight to burning them. So I think any increases I see in PoB from adding these boots are only because of the ES on the boots, not the mods. "Hey LordVisceral! Ball Lightning is cast every 500ish damage we take while our fire spells auto-cast with every 1100 damage we take. EE is benefiting us often for sure. Ball Lightning is a slow-moving skill too. So it's likely to hit enemies after our fire hits, even if they proc at the same time. Hey~~I have a question, would you please enlighten me how does Inspiration Support work with RF? I can't understand it, because I looked carefully at my char, and didn't see Inspiration Charge ball.

You don't gain Inspiration Charges from RF because you don't spend mana on it.
But, and that's the important point, as long as it has Inspiration linked to it, it _does_ gain the bonus damage from having Charges. So they key is having a second Inspiration linked to another skill that does spend mana, in this build, it's Cyclone, and since you constantly cast Cyclone, you constantly build up charges, which do buff your RF. |
