(I asked about including Anointed Flesh)

Awesome to see you CelticHound! Anointed Flesh was really hard to cut. It was really hard to decide between that and Soul of Steel. I chose Soul of Steel because it comes first in the "suggested tree path" I give.

I didn't include both because the four combined travel nodes, though great, aren't vital to the build. I HATE being under 200% max life from the tree, and we're only at 190%. So removing life nodes to get it was not going to happen. The only other option was to remove three damage nodes. The build, though damage isn't anything people are really complaining about, is still something that'd be hard to take from. And there aren't any free "travel" nodes that lead to notables that can be taken from.

Anointed Flesh was a tough cut. I could remove 2 the Life and Chaos nodes and have our life drop to 182% and then have the tree go to level 92...but I chose this tree for guide purposes.

Maybe the 3.12 tree will make life a little easier ;).

If you have any suggestions on how to include it, let me know for sure.

Great question!

Yeah, it's difficult. I'm going to make it harder on myself, because I want to help Oak for the 1% life regeneration and 2% physical damage reduction - and I feel Oak gets neglected a lot. I also want to not have to depend on gear for dexterity. (I hear there's this cool guide-maker who believes in being able to wear whatever gear you want...)

Anyway for starting out this build, what I did was make a Templar, and take him only as far as the medicine chest. That got me Purifying Flame and Arcane Surge Gems. (All the flasks were a bonus.) The Marauder gets Onslaught from the medicine chest quest, which can also support Purifying Flame.

I'm a compulsive shopper in SSF, and Nessa happened to be selling these wands:

Purifying Flame is both fire and physical, so that's +2 skill levels.

Unfortunately since they are wands, I can't use Ancestral Protector any more. But... I can buy Holy Flame Totem, which is also both fire and physical.
Hey CelticHound! Ha ha! Well good luck with that tree! That makes it pretty tricky. I'd love to see the end result though! Let me know when you've figured it out! And awesome purchases! That's smart buying! Keep us posted with your progress please! I like to hear the SSF experiences of others.

(I really like Oak too. I have a feeling that once PoE 2's campaign is released, that "bandit quest" and this one will have their rewards improved a lot. Maybe even before PoE 2. The 3.11 notable shakeup has made the bandit rewards less tempting...to me anyway.)

Thanks SquallRamza! I appreciate you taking the time to be thoughtful and encouraging. I'm glad you're liking both the guide and the build :).

Quick question - how does a mod "#% of fire damage converted to chaos damage" affect the build? I am asking as I was thinking about buying 6-link Infernal Mantle Windowsilk Robe since it's very cheap as 6link and has increased fire damage and +1 to socketed fire gems while offering some nice ES too.

Just noticed that The Restless Ward gives some life and ES, while also adding 200 flat life regen. Which one of those 2 uniques would you consider to be better for this build?
Good questions HDVision! Damage Conversion only applies to Hits in this game. So you won't be able to convert any DOT damage.

So between the two unique you mentioned, Restless Ward would be the choice. Just keep in mind the item base of the unique. You still want to get the socket colours you want.

Hi WoD

another great build. I tried your CI vortex build last season, and previously your Minion build. CI was a bit harder :)..

So the RF has been great so far (Map T2 currently), but while I think I get it I wanted to be clear...

Weapon Mods:
RF benefits from:
**Damage Over Time Multiplier (the most powerful mod for DOTs. Don't be without it!)**
- Increased Elemental Damage
- Increased Fire Damage
- Increases to Damage
- Increases to Area Damage
- Burning Damage
- Damage Over Time
- "More" of any of the above. In PoE, the term "More" is much stronger than "Increased". So choose "More" over "Increased" when you can.

% Increased and More is ok for EE, but Adds is bad, yes?

Thanks again.
Hey Doktaduck! Nice to see you! Thanks for your kind words! I updated the CI build quite late last league. Did you use the 3.9 version with all the CwDT links? Or the Blasphemy setup?

Correct. So, this isn't the exact math, but to give you an example of how Increased and More work I'll try the following. All "increases to YOUR damage" get added together and multiplied against the base damage. Then "more" gets multiplied against that total.

RF Damage * (all INCREASES added together). Then that total gets multiplied against all MORE damage. So they work hand in hand...but MORE will always be the stronger of the two.

"Adds" adds flat damage to Hits. So ADDS won't help RF at all because RF doesn't hit. But it will add the specified damage to our other skills that hit (it'll specify either Attacks or Spells). So if you add fire damage to you Ball Lightning, your RF will always deal less damage with EE. If your Cyclone has fire damage to it, RF will always deal the least amount of damage as well. Having mods that add lightning or cold are fine. Just don't add fire.

So you are correct :). Adds (fire) is bad.

(I did answer your question right? I think I went a little extra.)

Hi there,

How do you feel about changing Tireless branch and going straight for Constitution? It also costs 5 SP overall.

Maybe I'm wrong but reduce mana cost of skills seems useless. In total we lose 1% max hp but we get nice amount of flat HP through two more strength nodes and Constitution and a possible jewel slot.
Hey Jaroczaro2! Is there a chance you're using a previous league's tree for this build? I double-checked my links, pictures, and Pastebin and they all don't have the Tireless cluster selected. Don't worry at all if you're on the wrong tree, but if I'm giving out the wrong information somewhere please let me know where it is.

In regards to Constitution, it's a HUGE node for sure but because of the travel nodes to the cluster, it's not worth the HP per node unless you take the whole cluster. I found that I actually got more HP in the build without it, in every variation I played with as I stayed close to the other important nodes I wanted.

Good post! Let me know if I've screwed up somewhere.

Hi all.

First tx for the build, very user and beginner friendly.

What about using storm Brand instead of ball lightining? I think storm brand give us more continuous lightning damage than ball lightining, in order to take advantege of Elemental Equilibrium.

With Storm Brand you are attaching up to 3 enemies and causing lightning damage.

What do you think?

Tx!
Hey jcapi70! Good suggestion! I haven't actually played around with Brands since their rework. So I'm not sure how they interact with CWDT. If you're into changing the "EE" skill just make sure it can to mobs just as well as bosses. I like Ball Lightning because it has a great AoE and it "pierces". So if you add a brand, let us know how it goes. I'm quite curious.

Good question/idea!

Decided to jump back in after whats probably years away, was either going to be cyclone or RF as I have played them before back in the day, so why not go for both :-P

Being in a SSF league has had its challenges but its all starting to work out now I'm about to hit lvl 90. I've made some changes, added some things, dropped some things(currently trying to get enough orbs to regret everything lol) but the main plan right now is to get a 2nd curse and probably stick it on curse on hit with cyclone as I'm running flammability through blasphemy.

I do have a question if anyone knows, Vaal Impurity of Fire says "Nearby Enemies' Fire Resistance is Ignored by Hits" is the initial hit of RF classed as a 'hit'? is the DOT of burning classed as individual hits?

Hey eversorgod! Welcome back! I hope you like your return. Good job making the build your own. I hope your changes are successful and take you deep in the game!

Good question. In this game, Hit and DOTS are separate. RF never hits. So there will be certain mechanics that sound great but don't apply to this build. Fire Penetration requires Hits for example. Ignites require a Hit to start burning the enemy. So with RF, you only care about fire damage, burning damage, and DOT damage.

Every other part of our build hits (Cyclone, Purifying Flame, etc.) but won't really take advantage of Vaal Impurity of Fire's offensive side. All other aspects of the skill are still totally worth it though.

Great question!

As I had expected as I didn't notice anything other than a placebo effect on bosses. I don't use purity of fire as I don't really need it with what I'm doing. Cheers for the guide
Hello Wrecker_of_Days -

This is my first season playing POE, and chose your build & guide to help me. It's been awesome so far, slogged through the campaign using a mismatch of random skill gems, but once i was able to sustain RF it all became worth it! Just getting into running maps these days and had a quick question about a specific gear mod i hope you can help with.

I had an interesting Warlord Influenced rare chest drop, and i see online that it can roll the mod "% increased Life Recovery rate". I tried a bit of googling but could not find the answer, do you know if this Mod would affect the Life Regeneration per Second stat we have?

Thanks so much for your guide & build, i am enjoying it!

Edit: Also, thank you so much for the filters, i have subbed to all 4 levels and it really makes knowing what to pick up quick and easy!
