Content Update 3.13.0 -- Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas
I’m wondering, who or what is GGG balancing around and more importantly... why?
This is a PVE ARPG. There is NO rating system... what someone else plays does not directly impact me. So imagine playing a single player car game to have your favorite Exotic car nerfed to a Honda Civic. And after hours grinding for parts and fine tuning it’s barely on par with a Dodge Challenger but when driven it feels like you’re trying to drift... uphill... in a clown car... all because too many single players also like the Exotic car. And then imagine other single players crying that the Exotic car is faster than their Hyundai or to stop crying and just use this Lambo... That whole thought process for this PVE ARPG is just plain odd and annoying. And it truly is confusing why you’re making it hard for those that just want to chill with their favorite skills and play styles when it has no direct impact to other players. A lot of your skills are just mechanically boring or clunky. And no matter how many elder shapers a second damage those skills do, it will NOT change the fact that most of those skills will just NOT be appealing to every player. The only ones that are invested to care about builds being nerf/buffed are those that compete, rely on POE for stream views or YouTube content. If you’re not one of those players, then why are you complaining about what other players build to have fun in a PVE ARPG? skill balance sucks really hard ...
why did you killed dead skill like static strike reducing its duration to 2sec earlier ... 3 sec is like giving homeless people skin of banana instead of banana ... its still something they can throw away like your skill balance you've wasted your time doing it and out time reading it Is it the first leage without any new skills? Skills not these lame support gems which will be used by 1% of population or even less later in leage :( I hope your employees rested well during their time off and had any ideas for real skill balance or rework. Was pretty hyped, especially for the 40 gem changes, but not gonna lie that it being slight numerical changes, feels incredibly underwhelming. With only 2 new gem skills(one active, one support), not much is begging to be explored in this area.
Maybe I misunderstood Chris and am a victim of my own thoughts and hopes. Everything feels more streamlined, for better and worse, but I can understand, and it probably creates a better basis for the future for a more balanced game. Still gonna be excited about the league as it offers a lot, but the baseline lacks things anew to explore I feel. Maybe I just have to test the new gem, as nothing else seems to have changed or just very minor. |

I am usually forgiving with patch notes preferring to try the patch out in game first. However, I think you need to take heed when you read the first fifteen pages of responses and not see a single positive reaction to the notes.

Feels like this game is balanced around softcore. Maybe I'm a newb, but I could barely do the content with the necro buffs lol. No clue what to play now.

I started playing POE because a friend of mine said there are over 200 skills and you can play most on any class.
After these great buffs this patch I can't wait to try out the epic shield charge into scorching ray into searing bonds in my HO to draw a pentagon build. |
